That's good - and if it attracts new people to the game and to the train sim hobby, that's great.

Nate Wooley, publisher of GiN, added “I've been a rail enthusiast for decades. Longer than I've covered the game industry, certainly. RailWorks 2 is the finest rail simulation ever released. I've gotten more enjoyment from it than any other rail sim. If you enjoy railroads you'll love RailWorks 2

Congratulations.

However, I do fine it seriously ironic that GIN is the same site that absolutely panned RW2 in its review!

I don't think the review could really be considered as that bad - here is the summing up:
All and all the game is solid as a rock, albeit an ugly one. If you love train simulators and don’t mind the eye burning graphics outside your window, then it’s a good title to pick up that is accurate enough to probably teach you how to properly drive one of these multi-ton monsters.
Curiously that is almost the exact opposite of how the sim is often though of (I think the reviewer is coming from a more 'gaming' than 'simming' perspective), but hardly an entirely negative review.

I suppose it depends how you look at the review Nigel but agree that it's probably coming from a reviewer looking at things differently. As you say though, people often look upon RW as having very impressive graphics, I think the screenshots we see on a daily basis are testament to that, however, GIN says "Where talking Playstation One graphics here at the best" (note spelling mistake, small gripe  ) and gives the graphics a rating of 1.5 out of 5, hardly sparkling.

Others may find the review pleasing, I just thought it was fairly negative.

I also found this amusing:
Sure hearing the engine is nice and all but after twenty minutes of rolling through fields it wouldn’t be bad to hear some form of music, even if it is just a melody in the background.
Doesn't he know that all new-build trains come with iPod docks to enable the driver to blast out music to pass the time...

But yes; well done RSC!

Hi

This was a vote by the readers of GIN despite what might have been a less than sparkling magazine review.

The people have spoken :D

Just checked the GiN site. Best GAME in the Simulator category for 2010.
I knew I had the right attitude.
Super.

I've only just stopped laughing at that. Yeah RW2 is pretty, but it has way too many issues and isn't that accurate at all at being a SIMULATOR! Unless all that matters in this day and age is visuals....

Well done, RSC.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

You laughed for 3 1/2 hours about that? You should get out more.

Well done RSC, you should be very proud
