'Q1' file 24815

Post by brianbyrne »

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of File 24815 'Q1' loco (for RailWorks)? It seems to be no longer available in the Downloads.
Cheers!

It is currently unavailable, as are all of Karma's (Pete) files. There should be some news shortly regarding the availability of these.

Well it is good to see them available for download.

Shame the nearly completed South Devon Banks DVD is no longer being worked on since that looked good in the version I saw.
Kindest regards

There was absolutely no reason for the work to stop, you just needed to host it normally and not charge money for it.
I'm quite happy to have this arguement in public if you want to make snide remarks at me, John, but I thought UKTS staff were acting more professionally recently so I'd rather you took it to PM, unless you're trying to show me up in some way in public.

Ahh the old chestnut about money. Well sure I will send you a PM instead then but given the much anticipated South Devon Banks DVD won't be happening it was worth pointing this out amidst all the back slapping for making stuff available.

Brilliant John. I presumed the "remarks" were the very thing that you guys were trying to stamp out but it's here anyway, from the horses mouth so to speak?

The question has to be asked though when you can freely ban a member (Pete) for having an opinion, yet many others with an opposing "opinion" can remain on the forum. How can he then be blamed for removing the right to use said assets in a cd that ultimately makes money for the site that banned him? Lets be honest, before people fire up about the price of a community cd, the profits to UKTS will be pennies but people do have principles. As is said, where was the harm in just hosting an installer with everything that would be included on the cd? What causes that said process to stop for the sake of making a few pennies?

Ok, lets get it out in the open then, no need for snide remarks... we'll go for the facts instead.
By the way, nice of you to save this one up for the safety of the forum - a shame you didn't want to talk it about man to man last Saturday.

About 2 1/2 years ago I was asked if my GWR work could be included on a South Devon Banks UKTS CD. I said not a problem.

Roll on 2 years, during which time I've heard absolutely nothing and to be honest had assumed the idea had died a death.

We come to October 2010, and the night of the big forum bust up and the bannings. Basically for those who missed it, lots of people had a big forum argument, anyone who pitched in and wasn't a mate of one of the mods, or an old school forum member, got a ban.
Nobody was warned, as per the forum rules. The email address given to ask why you were banned was wrong (it bounced) and when I finally bought the question of "What got me banned?" to the mods via Matt, they still deemed it unworthy to reply to.
To this day, I'm still unaware of why I was banned - or why a near identical posts by a long standing forum member didn't get them a similar punishment.
After over 5 days Matt posted his big speech http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 6&t=110386
Just a shame it was 5 days after the bannings during which all communications were ignored.

That was the point I pulled all my assets from UKTS and told them that if the SDB CD was still going ahead that it would be without my support.

Ironically, mods have spoken with other forum members since then and admitted that they made a mess of things.. but I guess apologising would make them look weak, so that never happened.

Even more ironically, having chatted to Matt last weekend and time being a great healer, I was feeling somewhat sunnier about UKTS and have been a lot more active and helpful recently.

And then along comes John!
Nobody was patting themselves on the back. The guy asked for a link to the Q1. Darren and I have been working together for the past 4 weeks to set up new hosting for my assets, and today we got it sorted out.. so I posted a link.
Check me out, worshipping myself!

So, seems that my opinions on UKTS weren't too far off after all.. or at least some members of the moderation team anyway.
And as it's blame day according to John: let's say it's my fault that there's no South Deven Banks, and we'll say it's John's fault that there's no 56xx.

Deal? :D

We don't normally discuss moderator actions but since you bring it into the public gaze I will make an exception. A number of people had action taken against them at the same time as Pete. Who and what action is not publicly discussed. Pete may feel victimised but there were a lot of people at fault in that flame war. All got appropriate sanctions. Some whined about it, others just sucked it up and moved on. Some stormed off and haven't been seen since.

Well he is here now so the ban was only temporary as the screen would have indicated.

What causes the process to stop is the number of people who don't have fast connections and who rely on CD / DVDs supplying their routes. We frequently hear at the diminishing number of shows that people don't have the ability to download massive route collections. I am lucky with my 30MB connection I can get stuff easily. The whole idea of the DVDs is they are basically stuff it in the drive and it runs.

I was going to expand some more but I have received a PM so that is the lot until I digest the PM and reply to it in the morning.
Kindest regards
