Blender Merging objects query

The intricacies, or simplicities of 3D modelling are worth understanding. Alongside other forums like Building Rolling Stock, Scenic Item Creation and the other tool specific forums here's another place to ask questions that just don't quite fit the other forums.

Blender Merging objects query

Post by Trainguy76 »

Hi,

If I merge objects where in Blender they are named,

"1_0500_object1" "1_0500_object2" etc, will I have to type in the LOD part of the name into the IGS mod file?

Hey Alex,

right you have to place a line in the EDM (Export Data Modification) text file in the target folder for the IGS file.
For merging objects it makes sense only to put this into your model specific EDM file (of course).

Have a look into the example EDM files in the example folder of the Bigex 2.1 inst package. There you will find (commented out / inactive) examples for all options you have for mesh object mergeing. And of course the updated manual contains a new section on this topic.

Hiya, I did look at the manual, but I did not see anything about excluding/including the "1_0500_" part. I assume this must be included along with the model name for it to work?

Yup, absolutely correct. Blender don't care about the LODing prefixes in the names. Only RS/RW respectively the AE (ConvertToGeo.exe) is using this information when converting IGS into GeoPcDx.

Thus for Blender and the IGS format: its all the name.
