Curious, how do you pronounce Belle? Is just simply Bell or is it Bell-ee.
And if pronounced Bell, why the extra "e", or does the UK like adding "e" on to words, such as in older English, like Olde or Shoppe?
POLL:
Since the NSW govt has now closed the Newcastle Rail Line (NSW, Australia), what route is best for Newcastle's "light rail"?:

It's pronounced like 'bell'. The term Belle comes from the French adjective for beautiful - belle.

You shouldn't pronounce the e on the end of old english words either.

Not a phenomenon unique to the UK - think of America's "Southern Belles". Concidentally, the Brighton Belle was called the Southern Belle before electrification...

I saw car No 88 outside the ModelWorld exhibition in Brighton.

Very Impressive and something to look forward to in the near future.

I guess other restoration work can be seen at The Bluebell Railway carriage works so that is a good enough reason to get down to Horsed Keynes this weekend.
