Fotopic.net search going tempramental

Post by glasgowworks »

Over the past few weeks, the "Find Photos" part of fotopic.net (http://community.fotopic.net/search), where you want to find anything particular does not appear to be working at all. If you want anything from there, you wont get it and the message replaces it:
Search Results: 'sample'
No results were found for 'sample in 'Photos'
You may wish to expand your search terms, or select a different search type from the tabs above
Explore the Fotopic Community
Fotopic.net is still working, it is only at http://community.fotopic.net/search that is going funny. It is been happening for over a week now, there has to be a problem to the search bit, won't be able to search for a certain train number or anything in particular. :(

Have you made a complaint? The more people that complain, the more might get sorted out!
Don't bother sending a email to fotopic help as you don't even get an automated reply anymore!
Use Ticket tool to set up a complaint! It might get looked at that way and you have a record of sending
it as well!
I'm getting to the stage where I'm tempted to use another service as well! They compress the files so much
it ruins the photos.

Fotopic support is by far the worst I have ever come across.

Tried e-mailing them on why it won't come up, but no reply! Useless. When Fotopic is up and running, which it has been recently, it is great. However, about the same time last year, it didn't work. I'm sure it'll be up and running again soon!

WHAT SUPPORT????

If I were you I would make sure you backup your files that you have sent to fotopic. Make sure you download a zip file from them
with each collection you add! With the all the cut backs we are going through at the moment. It would not surprise me if they went
to the wall. Money is tight and if people start spending less it could easily happen!
To do this Click on DOWNLOADS on the collection contents pages!

There is another problem tonight for fotopic.net. The site is currently down at the moment and that you will get nothing at this time. Now what we all have to do is wait and see what will happen to the site. :(

According to Wikipedia:
Wikipedia wrote:In recent months, the whole Fotopic site has become unreliable with frequent service drop outs and lack of communication
So the end may well be nigh. :(

Which is hugely irritating if it is the end as many users have a huge amount of images on there, and of course have spent money on it. :(

But is it down for those that pay? If it is down for those that pay also, they have a right to get a partial refund.

The trouble with Flickr is that for a free account, it only allows 200 visible pictures.

Edit: Wikipedia (although not a reliable source in itself - unless checked with other sources) claims that of this month (March 2011) that it appears (note appears) to have ceased, but it was okay a few days ago, and that was in this month (ie: March 2011)

Almost 24?

It's been down well over two days now!

There are rumours circulating that the site could have been hacked.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fotopic#Ma ... 1_Downtime, but after that see the subject underneath called Services

IF (please note the word IF) it has ceased trading, what about those that have paid for the premium service?

Found this statement in the Fotopic Facebook page:
Nicky Rowbottom wrote:Right now we are doing everything we can to find out what is going on and to work out if there is anything we can do to help the Fotopic users. But as you are aware, Fotopic is no longer anything to do with us so we are limited as to what we can achieve. We will be taking all the steps that we legally can to retrieve the data. Joel now just needs the peace to get on with things.
Fotopic.net was sold to Snappy Designs in 2008 and the former owners are trying to sort things out as soon as they can.
