Alerter Sound

Post by lateagain »

I can only hear the alerter in Cab View. Even with an exterior view but the HUD on. OK there's a rather small warning signal but if you're looking around or concentrating on another task this is easily missed.

This may be "real", but in the sim many folk like to drive from outside to observe the scenery AI traffic etc. If you pass an alert and don't have the HUD on there is no warning until you suddenly realise you're grinding to a halt :-? .

Can the alerter sound be made audible in ANY view/sound set?

Geoff

PS all sliders maxed but simple controls not ticked, Exit on SPADS not ticked, Language warnings not ticked and Brake on Overspeed not ticked

The out of cab alerter warning is one of the only (imo) casualties of the new HUD. Even coloring the texture red doesn't make it noticable at all. And those of us who don't use F4 don't have an on screen alerter at all.

There is no "global" quick way to make the alerter audio outside the cab for all locomotives. It is a matter of finding every call to the alerter audio and changing its playstate.

The only locomotive I know where the AWS is audible outside of the cab by default is the Class 66. All of the others I know of have AWS audible only in cab as per prototype. This is easily enough changed but only by hacking the relevant engine files.

That's a relief I thought there was something wrong with mine because it was bought in the Rail Simulator days and ported over into Railworks. :D

It would be nice to see a return of the triangle that used to appear when the AWS horn was going off.

Yeah, I wasn't overly keen on it, in fact many complained but it seems now it was more useful than not.

It would indeed.

It's been replaced with an interactive symbol on the new F4 HUD.
I guess it's been removed from the F3/F5 interfaces because those are aimed at players who want a more "realistic" experience :P

...who arguably could have downloaded that for FREE in the form of BVE!!!!!! :P

If you don't see a problem it doesn't mean there isn't one. It just means you don't see it?

If a solution to the problem you can't see is implimented and you still don't see it ....what have you lost? More to the point what have others gained?

I'm not quite sure what you are getting at?
My point was the on screen AWS alerter can still be seen by pressing F4.

Yet another reference to another sim, possibly proves my questioning in another thread?

All programs are unrelated and should be treated as such. Why the constant reference in the majority of posts you make on the RW forum to other programs other than to cause argument, again?

And there is the thing though mate, Geoff should not be a troll, he has been around much longer than most and should know better, hence the question why? It's all argumentative surely, especially with such a random post.

OK this can stop now - taking chunks out of each other is not going to be tolerated.

And so should you Darren.

If this arguing doesn't stop then the thread will be put out to grass in the skip.

The Alerter sound and warning icons (imposibility to hear/ no icons if using F3 UI) was reported to RSC few weeks ago by myself via Facebook with positive respond. Jack
