Sorry Steve, and Darren, but a literal interpretation is all that's going to happen. It's obviously regrettable that people needing help on such matters can't get it directly from here but you must remember - this is not a situation of our making. UKTS took the only realistic course available, given the circumstances presented to Matt. I can only suggest that if people are unhappy with this situation, they lay any complaints at the door of the person responsible for this situation arising.
