A little advice please.

Post by ThomasTelford »

Hi Folks. :fadein:

Sorry to say i'm still having a lot of problems with my trainsim, :( i have tried a couple of reinstalls but on the last attempt after a short times of driving the train the simulater crashed and went to desktop. So here i am again about to try and do a fresh install of my TrainSim.However i'm just wondering if there is anything else that i should check befor i try the install (any files that may have got left behind anywhere, the trainsim was in the usualdefault place 'c' drive)
I'm deperate to get it sorted as i'm looking forward to the forthcoming EastMids plus route, which i hope is now just a couple of stations away.

Regards~Dom :)

Hi Dom,
After you've completed the uninstall procedure, and before you re-install, check if the Train Simulator folder is still present in Program Files/Microsoft Games - it will be if you've added any routes or stock. If so, delete the complete folder, then re-install MSTS.

The reasons for a crash to desktop are many and varied, but are usually caused by a faulty file - maybe stock, cabview or even sounds. It requires a little detective work to back-track through your latest add-ons. One tip is: do not be tempted to add more than one route at a time - test each one as it's added.

Good luck!
Cheers,
Ged

Hi Folks. :fadein:

Thanks for your advice, the basic Trainsim is working and i've downloaded the Thames Mersey route (including trainstore) which is working just fine. However i've tried to download the MSTS Bin but i'm getting the message that there is an earlier version which cannot be updated, trouble is i cannot see the old Bin files anywhere. :(
Sorry to be a pain and i guess this is a lesson for all that's not 100% sure on what there doing.....leave alone! :-?

Hi Dom,
Have you applied the Microsoft upgrade for MSTS? This must be done before you run MSTSBin; you can get it from the steam4me site, here : http://msts.steam4me.net/MSTS_Updates/index.html
Scroll down to the heading "Why Do I Need This Version 1.4 Web-Update" and you'll find the download button a little further down.

If you have run this update, what error message/s are you getting?

Cheers,
Ged

Got distracted whilst writing this post (started 1/2 hour ago) - Ged therefore beat me to it :D
