Announcing the Great Northern Railway [Kings Cross]

Post by Ooveecouk »

Oovee is proud to announce its development of the Kings Cross to Welwyn Garden City route also known as the “Great Northern Line” which will include a BR Class 313 EMU – The route will feature highly realistic line-side equipment, stations, signals and close-range urban buildings. The era will be based on 2010.

Having unprecedented access to resources, we are eager to recreate the Great Northern Line as accurately as possible. A new shadowing process will also allow us to recreate the virtual world with more depth and vision.

OHLE (Over Head Line Equipment) licensed from Thomson Interactive from their incredibly detailed GARL route will allow us to speed through the electrification process more efficiently. Signals have been custom designed by Oovee and represent the signals found on the real route.

We also hope to have fully function “neutral sections” which will prototypically cut-off power to the locomotive or multiple unit when travelling through the section(s). TPWS speed limits will be based on real life data so learning the route will be critical.

Expected release time is currently unknown but we do aim for some time in 2011, price is also to be announced once route has been complete or almost completed.

That has made my day, the GN and a class 313. Best of luck with this, I can't wait for its release.

I'm debating whether I like this or not, bad memories of commute on this line. Still good news! you going to do Finsbury Park->Moorgate too? most of that is tunnel so it wouldn't be terrible amounts of work.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

Wow. I wasn't expecting it to be a route; and this is an excellent choice. Kudos to the development of custom signals and the use of TPWS for it - it'll give a very realistic driving experience. The 313 is also a great choice and complements the route very well and if neutral sections can be modelled it'll just add a nice little touch of realism to it.

Brilliant it sounds like its going to be a good route :), although just curious though would it include the Hertford Loop Line / Moorgate? (only because these are run by 313s). Although also perfect for Bens Class 91/DVT being made as well as the 317 on here as well! (although there is another 313 being made as well by someone)
Something goes here??

Is this going to have addons for this addons because it says pt1. I remember this route from MSTS, really hope this goes to York eventully. We'll probably get a AI only 91 since its the main train on the route, Mayby Doncastor-York might include their 321? And the one to pertorbough will probably include the 317.

Hello Oovee,

I don't suppose that this will extend through to Peterborough at all (thus including my local station of Huntingdon)?. 365s would almost be a necessity of any route running out of King's Cross in the present day too...

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

Lovely jubbly, though I would be more partial to a Cravens DMU than the 313 but that's me showing my age...
