Class 02 problem

Post by Neptune50006 »

I have just bought the 02 shunter in the sale but have a problem with it. I can't get it to move! All the levers and switches work OK but when I increase the throttle the engine revs up but there's no movement. I checked the manual but there are no driving instructions, not that it really needs any.

Any ideas folks?

Thanks.
Gary.

You need to press "E" to put it into gear, before you rev up.
Same as the 101 if you have it, if not E to change up, shift +E to change down.

Ahhhh, OK thanks. There's no gear lever on the HUD though for some reason. I'll go and give it a try :)

Hi ,
I recently treated myself to the 02 in the Sale and experienced the same.
I got a bit of a clue from removing the F4 panel (by pressing F4!) and pressing F5 to show what could be going on!
As rightly mentioned in another post you have to put it in gear - although someone had been around and pinched my gear lever too
Another thing I THINK I noticed (I'd got to the 'press anything' stage by then) was to make sure the loco brakes were selected and released..doh!
Anyway it's a little cracker!

One thing I'd like to add - if the item comes with a manual.pdf then why not actually include how to drive it? Is it me?
Happy New Year to all

Sorry to bump this thread up again but I'm still having problems with this loco.

I can't get it to go above 10mph, is that normal? I tried pressing E again to see if it would go up one gear but nothing happened. I have also checked to make sure all brakes are off, which they are. Am I still doing something wrong or were the 02's really this gutless? :-?

Just had a look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_02

Top speed 19.5 mph (31.4 km/h) And they got a Rolls-Royce Engine and Transmission too :o

I've never tried a geared loco in railworks, but one thing I suggest if not already tried is lift off he throttle, then shift gear, then apply the throttle again, instead off gear-shifting while the throttle is on. That's the first thing I would try anyway.

Not having had the chance to run this little shunter for a while (as I've been running WCML North & Bristol - Exeter when I can recently), after testing I can confirm that it only has 'Neutral' and 'First' as gear options and, running light - on the flat, "D2860" ran perfectly up to it's stated max speed of 19.5mph.

Could you be running it on an incline, perhaps? Or are you pulling something?
