'Celebrity' MSTS named loco's

Post by basildd »

Although this started in a different thread, if anyone has any suitable suggestions for NWTVR named loco's can they please nominate them here, with a brief reason as to why. In order not to devalue the whole thing, only people who have made a recognised contribution to MSTS and in particular this site, will be considered. I am aware that having certain people 'named' is likely to be opening a 'can of worms' but they are on VR loco's not the real thing and it is in the spirit of fun and recognition of what people have put into this for all of us. If people are not named I hope it is not taken as a sleight against them but by the same token, i would hope that someone would have nominated them in the first place.

The named loco's will bolster the fleet of NWT VR Loco's to provide choice for users on there.

So, if you have any ideas, please fill in the blank box below...

When I said recognised I didn't mean in that sense.... :)

As for the other suggestions, Mark shipman and Gerald Morris are already lined up for the next releases! I am certainly not doing one for me and Ollie is earmarked for a Class 08! :)

Kim Durose and Pat Dalton are good choices. Have to be on 47's though as more befitting the end of their era! :)

Actually, not poking holes my MY VR was first on the scene, but it didn't last, I had 400 applications in the first week :-?

Who - and Why:

Terry Thornton - Steam Locomotives
Stuart Williamson - Steam Sounds
Martin Heywood - Activties

You can't name one after me unless there is an industrial complex or docks or something that has a clapped out tank engine working there, wheezing away quietly in some overgrown siding... and of course it would have to be a saddle tank.

Damn...now I'll have to scrap plans for that Inter City 125 naming ceremony....

The others are added to the list accordingly!

I wasn't knocking the sentiment but pointing out the minefield which popularity polls tend to turn into.

Basil put his request for names in a PM but I'll make my list of members that in my honest opinion have to be added to create a balance.

I don't know all the names,so forgive me if I simply put the upload.

Models as they appear to dominate polls.

Kim Durose
Terry Thornton (Duckweed)
Paul Gaudsden
Kevin Martin
Mark Shipman
Robin of Northampton
Dave Babb

That's half a dozen most have been around since TSF days, I could mention many more and they're all good and I wouldn't want to place one above another.

Routes in order they appeared

The Scottish Routes
Pat Dalton and John Yelland
Steve Pontin
Steve Nicklin
Rob Thorburn
Gordon Mackenzie

Again, half a dozen and there's still more. I reckon they're the most deserving of all for sheer time and effort. Plus there's routes in the making like Martin's which still has to be in the reckoning as he's obviously put many hours of hard work into it.

Sounds

Gary Cox but there are several others.

Cabs

Bob Potts and other modellers who make their own.

I know nothing of Virtual Railways so I can't comment on them but they are popular with many.

Utilities

The bloke who did Targa Tools without whom many of of would be still putting .ace files in the Route editor and taking screenshots.

Paul Gaudsden again
Mick Triste

Reskins

Where do you start?

For bravery under fire and dogged persistance

Eddie Farms

Last but very much not least, Dave Roles for his many kind favours 8)

And I havn't even mentioned those with a similar banner to mine as that would be obvious favouritism
Cheers

John
