Class 31 anticipation thread!!
Anyone else sat at work itching to get home tonight and purchase the class 31?
It's days like this that are the highlight of the RW hobby! a brand new beast on the way.
It's been a while since RS.com produced a classic British diesel (shunters don't count!!) and I'm convinced the 31 is going to be an absolute corker, coming at the culmination of 3 years loco building experience for the RS.com team.
The clock just isn't moving fast enough!!

Re: Class 31 anticipation thread!!
The Class 31 will complete the main loco classes seen on the ECML in the 70/80's, so I'm looking forward to finally including it in my scenarios
The added bonus is that they were/are a wide ranging class & can be used in a lot of routes currently available.

Re: Class 31 anticipation thread!!
It will certainly plug a big gap, 31's are total mixed-traffic so can be used on freight or passenger and will look at home on any route in any era. Looks like it's got cracking sounds as well (Oovee??)malkymackay wrote:The Class 31 will complete the main loco classes seen on the ECML in the 70/80's, so I'm looking forward to finally including it in my scenarios![]()

Never thought I'd ever see this day from back in the early days of RS when all we had was default stock for a very long time, but we're actually closing in on having all of the classic British loco's covered.
We just need a proper Class 25/26/27, a proper Class 58, a Class 73, a Class 87 and we're more or less done!

Out tonight it says on their Facebook page. "Tweaked Class 31, a few little niggles have been fixed. Out on Steam tonight"

Re: Class 31 anticipation thread!!
DT will hopefully get round to releasing a revamped 25 & 40 in the not too distant future, IHH have preview pics of both 26 & 27 on their site and I know of someone considering a payware 58. The Class 87 would have been a more appropriate choice for WCML North, having been built for the line & the rest of the AC locos would be most welcome. There is a 33 in production, and it looks a cracker. The 73 is an interesting one, how would you go about modelling a dual-powered loco?jimmyshand wrote:We just need a proper Class 25/26/27, a proper Class 58, a Class 73, a Class 87 and we're more or less done!
So plenty to look forward to and all the other stuff like the various Sprinter units in progress. Maybe once that lot has been tackled, more first generation DMU's could be attempted. I can think of 6 other classes that could be seen just on the Newcastle-York route, as well as the 101.

Ah, but were not getting the 31/4 variant, are we? A great modification that was. What bright spark came up with the ETH scheme that drew valuable power even if not operating?phill70 wrote:I heard it was running late due to lack of power

Re: Class 31 anticipation thread!!
I'm sure those may follow next year, a new Class 40 would also be most welcome in different nose variants, then, we'll have everything from the BR corporate blue days for all of the routes we have from around the UK.jimmyshand wrote: It will certainly plug a big gap, 31's are total mixed-traffic so can be used on freight or passenger and will look at home on any route in any era. Almost - let's not forget the Class 41 Warships, Class 23 Baby Deltics or the Class 17's and 21's/29's that were a major feature of Scottish routes...

I think that the only classes that have not been mentioned so far would be the BTH & NB Type 1's, the MetroVick CoBo's & the remaining electric locos (71/74 & 76/77)

I have heard of this before, but cannot find any evidence to support it (well apart from Wikipedia)malkymackay wrote:Ah, but were not getting the 31/4 variant, are we? A great modification that was.
