Class 31 delayed?

Post by jimmyshand »

Does anyone know when the 31 is due for release?

Originally it was today, the Official Site now says Monday 6th but a RW Facebook snippet says 15th Dec!!

Gutted I am, I was all set to buy it tonight, had the cash all primed. I'd even allowed Mrs Jimmy to go have her hair and nails done yesterday at great expense so that she couldn't give me any grief about splashing out on the 'goyle!!

You've let me down RS.com, please release it ASAP! By the time it becomes available I'll have lost all my bargaining power and it'll be too close to Xmas to justify the spend!!

Do you make your Steam purchases with PayPal? If so, "spend" the money now by adding credit to your PayPal account, then when the 31 is released use it to buy it.

Yes, that's a good idea, if, you have Paypal, of course......Mind you, there's no way of knowing how much the 31 will cost at the moment, and if folks are watching their pennies just before Christmas, you'd need to have the appropriate amount in your account, I would hazard a guess at the unit price being about £11.99, but, I could be way off beam with that figure, it's a bit hit and miss, if you've got £20-30 tucked away spare, then, you've got no probs.

Cheerz. Transport Steve.

While I assume the last sentence is in jest, RS.com really haven't let you down, if you recieved the x-mas showcase newsletter the original date of release was the 10th of Dec, so even though it has been moved to monday (which isn't guranteed after the post on facebook) it would have still been earlier than actual intended release date, and also the main release post was updated to the 6th 3 days ago.

The straight facts is, Steam currently has a busy schedule for releases as stated by Paul Jackson in a post on facebook yesterday and this is knocking releases back or delaying them, while everything maybe ready for release its down to Steam release schedules which ultimately are causing the setbacks for the time being and RS.com can do little to influence that.

This is one bit of DLC I was thinking of getting (to assist RSC in overcoming their £300k deficit, as revealed by "Ottoleaks" at TS  ) but really need to know whether the sound pack is going to be up to scratch. Are we getting a proper Class 31 soundset or is it yet another remixed Class 37 with a Class 31 idle sound overlaid? Although both are EE locos, the Class 31 is quite different and distinctive in sound. I await the reports with interest.

Is that a sneaky way to say Oovee is doing the soundset for the 31? ;)

Regarding the 31 delay, I think that sometimes the people like myself who look forward to purchasing new stock on a given day, are not being very well informed about delays, they take our money but muck us about. I purchased Doncaster Works, but only after having to wait until it was released a day late. We dont seam to hear any apoligies or explination for the delays, this cannot be good P.R.

So just to recap:

1. Originally planned for Friday 10th Dec according to the Xmas Showcase
2. Announced for Friday 3rd, a week earlier
3. Changed to Monday 6th.
Now this is where it gets contradictory.
4 Twitter: Wednesday 15th
5. RS.com site: Monday 13th?!

Perhaps the Class 31 has been delayed partly as a result of the recent severe weather? Given that RSC have offices in Guildford and Chatham, it wouldn't surprise me if staff had difficulty in getting in last week and if schedules were consequently put out. I know only too well how grim it's been here in Reigate, which, of course, is not far from Guildford. At any rate, the Class 31 is something to which to look forward, no matter when it arrives.
