Hi
With just a little bit of luck, the localisation sytem will work in this update, it would be a sad story if not.

Well I for one hope it will be a radical overhaul of the route building system along with some new and flexible features.

Re multiplayer, I'm not sure what Auran are looking to do with TS2010 but personally I have my reservations about how MMO can be applied to any simulation product. If you're driving in a real time environment, then you're going to get a brief glimpse of Jack as you pass him with a closing speed of 150 MPH. If it's a VATSIM style environment then you're going to need someone who is prepared to be the signaller *and* the AI will need to man up to cope with those trains in the timetable which aren't human controlled. (i.e. no crawling or ignoring signals).

It's not a "play" environment which particularly appeals to me for Trainz or RW for that matter, the main plus being if it sells a few more copies (of either sim) and therefore brings in money to pay for the core aspects I would like to see improved.

If RS.com adds multiplayer it'll be fun to watch the various forum decline into misery with 10-15 new posts a day of kids promising an eternal fatwa on RS.com because they can't crash their train into the "opponent"'s :/

Hi bigvern --

"If you're driving in a real time environment, then you're going to get a brief glimpse of Jack as you pass him with a closing speed of 150 MPH."

True. But image a pre-Beeching single track branch line, perhaps a dozen of so miles in length with maybe three stations on it and a larger station with a major yard where the branch joins the main line.

A railbus shuttles back and forth operated by one player who also acts as the Train Controller/Signalman. Another player marshals the wagons in the yard at the main line station, preparing trains for another player who operates the goods train service to all the branch line goods yard. Maybe even two goods trains operate if there is a major industry (quarry, power station, ... ) on the branch line. It could be fun.

Or maybe my "smoke stack US" series of routes that I've done in Trainz. These are essentially single track routes with a multitude of industries that consume and produce products. A evening session with a few like minded friends could be most enjoyable.

There will be applications where multiplayer will work; and ones where it will not. The trick will be to design routes and sessions around those that will.

Would have thought multiplayer would be more suitable to actual scripted scenarios where you q for entry to the scenario at the server and then say 3 people have a challenge in a small session (assembling a goods train etc)

I for one am hoping than any Major Updates do not wreck my chances of finishing my Route. However I suspect they will because of another large amount of alterations needed. I have put Steam in Offline Mode again. The 86 notch fix will be happening next year according to the first reply I have received from Support. Why can they not sort out the problems we have already before they embark on more major changes.
I also hope it means the removal of the new F4 HUD. That is the only change that would make me happy. It would also be nice to know well in advance what was changing in a major way then it would be possible to prepare for it.
Kind regards James.
