Railway Metals Series

Post by KeithBridges »

Hi everyone!
As some of you may be aware in the first route building compotion I made a line called Southern Metals and I have put some pics of V2 of the line on the forms. Over the next year I am going to try to make a whole series of lines.
Southern Metals-V2 allmost done.
Eastern Metals-Just started
Western Metals-not started
Midland Metals-not started
In all of the lines I will try to incorporate all parts of the big four companies so a mainline, branchline and one in the middle. All the mainlines will have the big four's main works so in Eastern Metals Doncaster works will be in it and in Western Metals, Swindon will be on it. As well the mainlines will end on one of the big four's sea side terminals so places like Portsmouth, Scarbough and so on.All the line will be fictional.
But hears the bad news Milford Lakeside Railway the file went courped and I had no back up and the nymr I have had so may problems with it and setting the line up I have given up with it but thank you to everyone who had made bits and pices for it.
Thanks Chris :D

Hi Chris

A small set of routes with a similar theme is a very interesting idea.

Good luck with this.

I downloaded your southern metals today, although my copy of RW won't be here until tomorrow or thursday, but more routes on the same theme and using default assets will be very welcome.

I've recently downloaded "Southern Metals", really liked the idea of it. I assume this is being extended a little? I'd love somewhere authentic to run my WC/BB pacifics :D

Hi
Thanks all for the comments.
I have not really thought about the locations for Western Metals yet and in V2 of Southern Metals the line is being extented.
This first pic is from Eastern Metals. Can anyone guess where the location is based on? And if you know where it is it will give you an idea of some more locations on Eastern Metals.
Thanks chris :D

Hi
News update:
First bad news- work on all the metal series has stopped because I have received the evil exam timetable for some gcse exams in Jan so its all now to revision. :evilbat:
Second good news- At the moment Southern Metals is around 8 miles in total but when laying track in Eastern Metals the total track lenght is around 20 miles long, so Southern metals will get another extention in time.
Here to give you an idea of Eastern Metals here are the station being used in it.
Branch line:
Scarborough Londesborough Road--Robins Hood Bay--Whitby West Cliff-- Whitby Town.

Mainline:
Scarborough--Ipswich--Doncaster
Thanks Chris :D

Definitely :D I remember that well, as I still have the CD for yorkshire coast route from MSTS. Looks marvellous in RW2.

It'd be awesome if someone made the route from Whitby to Scarborough, then to york and even grantham, then KX!

Hi
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply.
Dark you have givin me an idea ,so far the line goes from Whitby to Scarborough but the bit in the middle is mostly made up and the mainline goes on a fictional line to doncaster via ipswich. So I am think of changing the main line so it is based on the Scarbough to York line but like the branch line the bit in the middle is mostly made up because I have not quite got the skill to make long lines of how they apper in real life.
Thanks Chris :D

Sounds like a good idea, but ultimately its up to you and what you can manage :)
