Hi,
Does anybody encountered the same error? On every route, in every scenerio the SBH crash happens when I call the 2D map view (key 9).
I uninstalled the complete game. Reinstalled steam/RW1 from the original CD and let it be completely upgraded to RW2 with no additional routes or assets.
However the error persists. Really stuck here, sent a report to support.
Any suggestions?
Paul

Hi Paul,
You could try doing this which I had to do when running Rail Simulator. The instructions will be a little different for RW than those given below, but I'm sure you can work out how to get to the Screen options to 'tick' only the basic ones necessary to run the Scenario. Worth a try.

The South devon Banks Route is very heavy on a P/C's resources, I don't know whether this will help, its from a Post I made in an earlier Thread about the Wales & Borders :-Something odd is happening with the 2D map. Only with great care can you navigate it otherwise you get a CTD.
Maybe not, but I thought I'd Post it just in case.I had similar problem with the Wales & Borders Route for some time before I worked out a way to prevent it crashing when pressing key F3 or Key 9.
What I suggest that you do is load the Scenario you want to run, when it has loaded before you do anything else, remove the Briefing screen, then click on the 'Globe' (at the bottom of screen) which takes you into Scenario 'Edit' mode. Open the Top left 'Fly out' and click on the 'Monitor screen' symbol, this will open the right hand 'Fly out' which has the Screen options. Click on the right hand cube at the top and All the ticks will disappear from the Icons, now 'Tick' the minimum number of Icons you can run the Scenario with. Finally click on the orange arrow at the bottom of the screen which will return you to the Scenario and away you go. I have shown you a screenshot of the ones I have selected to enable me to run 'Steams dying days Pt1' Scenario that I could not run before using this method.

If too many Icons are ticked the Sim will still crash, I'm afraid it's trial and error to suit your P/C .
I believe it might be that the Graphics card or Processor that's installed, although capable of running the Sim for some Routes is struggling to handle more densely populated Routes like Wales and Borders and it falls over (I also have to use this method to enable me to run the Llangollen route), perhaps someone more knowledgeable will comment.
Anyway give it try, it works for me and let me know how you get on.
Rob.
