Re: Three simple questions for RSC
For me cab sway would be the icing on the cake for this game. The motion effects were what made BVE so special and gave it such mass appeal around the world. If you took away the motion effects then BVE would be nothing more than a poor quality freeware cult product. As it stands today BVE has been the only widespread simulator to feature non linear movement. To have this feature added to RW would catapult it forwards light years I think. Surely it can be done? The pendolino tilt works so surely the same program can be adapted to show sway and bounce in a random manner? The pendo tilt is quite remarkable and clever the way it tilts proportionately to the tightness of the curve, mesmerising to watch. If the tilt can be programmed in such a complex way to vary according to curve radius then surely a bit of random rock and roll should be childs play? I seem to recall months back there was a video on here somewhere showing a 3rd party creator who had almost cracked the cab sway, it was in development but clearly worked, who was this chap? Can rsc track him down and subcontract him?

Hi Jimmy
Derek has already said that they have cab sway working in the pro version. Good for us that this is already being tested out and should be perfect when it reaches us.

Cab say - in the plan - we had a good version of this working in the pro version, It will find it's way into RWs and I'm sure an off switch for those that don't want it.

surley a simple version of cab sway would be to give the whole cab a lurch over point work, simples.........................you can tell i am not a programmer

I agree, cab sway doesn't have to be operating all the time, just at key moments like going over points, junctions and tight turns. I'm no programmer either but it must be plausible because we know RW measures train forces because of the old career system accelerometer, so the sim knows when forces are being applied, this could be a trigger for cab sway/moderate tilt.antonyperks wrote:surley a simple version of cab sway would be to give the whole cab a lurch over point work, simples.........................you can tell i am not a programmer
Likewise the sim also knows when the train is going over points because you get a sound effect. Again this could be used to trigger a random 'lurch' effect in the cabview.
