Re: wcml north problems after railworks 2
welcome to the club mate, I had major dramas too with my upgrade.
Try going onto Steam and verifying the cache. This will check your install for missing items and re-download them if it finds any missing. I think some of us must have received a dodgy download because when I ran the verify cache I had something like 115 files missing. Most of my issues were resolved after doing this.
Don't forget also to clear the blueprint cache from the initial RW start screen under tools&docs tab.

Re: wcml north problems after railworks 2
There is a big difference between clearing the blueprint cache - the button in the tools % docs tab which you should run after installing any new assets - and verifying the local cache in Steam, which is basically checking all RW files distributed by Steam and re-downloading those that are corrupted or missing. To find detailed instructions on doing this in Steam read page 24 of http://www.railsimulator.com/quickstart.pdfmalcolmowen wrote:when you say click on verifying the cache where do i find it lol ? as i can only find clear the cache

Re: wcml north problems after railworks 2
Steam can't find the corrupted files, it makes a very shallow check. Ive tested in last week, when none of the default german routes worked, because a partition resize corrupted some files. I made steam check 3 times... didn't found any problems... so i needed to delete reinstall the whole game.
But at wcml problems, there isnt about corrupted or missing files, since i've reinstalled that too 4 times, and still not works, while it worked before. Yesterday i got missing class 86 engines and no track, today i got a simple sbhh problem...

My top wishes: Realistic engine physics - Superelevation - Multi-core support - Remove Physix engine, and use better one

Re: wcml north problems after railworks 2
Steam does find and correct corrupted files, provided they are files that were originally provided via Steam. If they are in a cache, created locally, or installed from a third-party disc, then they won't be considered by the verification.
If you know which file it is, try deleting it entirely. Otherwise, try deleting (or just moving) the whole RailWorks directory and re-downloading it. If you moved it, then in principle you can compare the two and find out what was wrong.

The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.

And the below is an example of the FUD distribution network in action...
In other realms, this sort of thing would be repudiated or challenged with some requirement to quote/reference sources, but here, one person says one thing (often ad infinitum) and it suddenly becomes "fact"...

Two different perspectives; which is "right"? More importantly, how is the 'casual reader' supposed to know what's legitimate and genuine fact versus what is hyperbole and supposition?USRailFan wrote:Only for (some) scenario-related files.Wikkus wrote:Aren't they using .md5 checksumming?sanyix wrote:Steam can't find the corrupted files

It all depends on who "they" are. RSC do have some .md5 checksums for the career scenarios to stop editing those scenario files but what Steam does or does not do is a different matter.
