I have watched the Video and I am not so impressed. It just looks like a Toy on screen with the new Driver Interface. They are also saying that the Flying Scotsman is extremely detailed. Is it going to need a super computer to run this new stuff. Re-Branding is a known ploy to make more money in the long term. Companies do this all the time. The only plus is that it will cost Railworks 1 users nothing.

Don't use the interface James, it has been said all along you can turn it off, nothing to worry about.

In fact, where was Del? I mean, I know there is a saying "face for radio" and all that but I expected a cameo. :lol:

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting to read about RailWorks 2 when I switched my PC on this evening. What a nice surprise! I knew that there were further changes and improvements coming to RailWorks, but for them to bring those as part of a re-release is great. For all the doubters, this goes to show that RS.com are sticking to their promise that the core upgrades would remain free and their revenue would come from the add-ons they continue to work on alongside the main simulator. Considering how they've managed to keep this release quiet until just 1 week before release, I'm looking forward to hearing more about what will be in it. It seems a lot of hard work has been going on in the background and further strengthens the future for our hobby.

Good luck with RailWorks 2. I'm along for the ride. 8)

Traction physics(diesel electric, hydraulic, mechanic, electric) will work as they should (realistic)? Will be the new core multithreaded to avoid stutters and to profit from the modern CPU s? Will be full dynamic dispatcher, and path finding work? I think no...
But the gui will get new theme + achievements + new name + locked scenarios according to achievments.
(i see superelevated track won't be implemented from the video...)
But in this case rs.com should use another name this name: Railworks 2: Train Arcade Driving
Watching that video i didn't saw ANY improvement, just a new gui theme (which i can't call and improvement)...
My top wishes: Realistic engine physics - Superelevation - Multi-core support - Remove Physix engine, and use better one

Might be best for you to turn off automatic updates then? That way you cannot reply to us on Monday with your infectious enthusiasm! :D (Note the smilie, having fun, I'd rather have this update and rebranding than not have a developer behind it at all)

I find this obsession with superelevation rather amusing. Even if it were to be implemented it would surely be barely noticeable unless you built a route that resembled the Indy 500 circuit :-?

I too just watched the Video (HD Full Screen ) and ...wow...am i impressed.... :crazyeyes:
About half way thru , when the guy was showing the list of trains you could choose from, i was screaming at the screen, "show me a Picture" "Need a Picture"......
"Boo "epic fail epic fail :( ..........and then at the end, he says, YOU NEED TO SEE WHAT SORT OF TRAIN YOU ARE DRIVING...( Train Info ).... BLOODY BRILLIANT...... :D

I for one love the new interface...( i never liked that huge square on the left of my screen )....and cannot wait for this to be released....

Congrats to all at RSC for sticking with it.....Excellent job....

For those that are saying it looks "Toy Like "....if you want to see "toy like"....Go look at Trainz....

Just one gripe .. :(

Still no official acknowledgement of the freeware contributions made to RailWorks, just a mention of third party add-ons filling holes in the market. It cannot be that hard to officially say thank you to all freeware contributors and acknowledge that they exist - perhaps one day ..

I'm happy that we get a free copy, and that the rpice hasn't rocketed back up to 40 pounds, but I'll be to busy playing Medel of Honor! ahah! :)

LOL it's there on the most of higher speed railways of europe, and it's very noticeable. About 60% of high speed routes use superelevated tracks and this percentage is rising.
Even here in Hungary where the most of mainline max speeds are 160 or 120 km/h the superelevated curves frequently used . But in germany and western europe it used MUCH more frequently.
But the biggest problem is that the train engine, and traction simulation is better(yes it is) in 9 years old MSTS, which is ridicolous.
