DT's 2P and Fish Vans coming to Steam

Post by transadelaide »

From DT's website - they have withdrawn the 2P and Blue Spot Fish Vans from sale as these are soon to be combined into one product with more models, liveries etc and coaches as well. This will then be available on Steam, from DT and also as an upgrade for existing 2P and Fish Van owners. I have two questions about this...

1. Will this be a free upgrade?

2. If I, as a long time loyal customer and 2P purchaser, get the upgraded pack through DT is there a way that I can get the RW Career Scenarios that will come for Steam customers? Perhaps like the Big Boy CS which was free to all owners whether they purchased from IHH or Steam?

Would be nice to hear from both DT and RS.com people on this, if anything just to put the curiosity to rest :)

1) I'd expect to pay something, as it seems the 2P will be upgraded and the pack will include new content. I believe the original 2P cost only 2.99 and I'm sure the new pack will sell for a lot more than that.

I guess since it includes the fish van a small (i.e. US$ 3 to 5 or so) upgrade price would be decent for any owners of one of the two, and a free upgrade for people who have both.

RSC have put some pictures up on facebook
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2 ... 8680273090 for facebook users.

These demonstrate that this is a pretty impressive looking pack with some new smoke effects, new liveries, the aforementioned vans, and what looks like a non-default green Mk1 in one shot. I cannot imagine that I'd get all this as a free upgrade. However, I will happily pay an upgrade price.

As far as the fishvan is concerned I wonder if this will also be upgraded to include the earlier, non blue-spot, version with the oil type wheelbearings instead of the roller bearings used in the Blue Spots for better reliability at high speeds. Although it does not say so, I have sent an email to DT with this question. No answer yet.

It looks like an interesting upgrade, lets hope we have an LMS livery version as well, it is strange to think that the RW Black 5, the 8F and the excellent LMS Mogul are not available in the parent company livery.

I agree this will not be free for fishvan and 2P owners. It is also an 'upgrade' as opposed to an 'update' which are usually free of charge. Thanks for the link to the pics on Facebook.

The 2Ps didn't appear in the lined crimson, as far as I can tell. The earlier 583 class did, however, and one day we will represent these. As for the Blue Spot vans, they remain as before, we included them to avoid having no stock in the pack, having over-run the deadline slightly, we had no time to include the stock we had planned (This will appear at a later date on our site).

Is it just me or have the textures of the 2P been improved since direct sales? Looks like a lovely engine, well done DT and RS.com.

Looks like it's been released.....£7.99

http://store.steampowered.com/app/24087/

Can't see any mention of a discount for owners of the previous version.

Thanks

Does the new version have the sounds for a 2 cylinder loco or three cylinder?

Thanks
Info about the upgrade path for previous owners only concerns customers who bought it directly from DT, so it is correct that no info about that appears on Steam. Now that the combined pack is released I look forward to getting an email from DT about how to upgrade in the next few days.
