Re: The Keith Ross appreciation society.....
Not going to Heathrow is fine as I said; I did it once, it's basically boring concrete box tunnel anyway. I'm just wondering if there are NEC elements anywhere else, you may not have spotted all of 'em. I guess I'll run it through RWtools.

That's what I would also like to know. I'm only interested in the mainline, but don't own NEC....Kariban wrote:Not going to Heathrow is fine as I said; I did it once, it's basically boring concrete box tunnel anyway. Keith, a huge thanks for this. Downloading as I type! Looks like NEC was a worthwhile purchase after all

Re: The Keith Ross appreciation society.....
Just to advise you guys that Keith has used numerous items from the North East Corridor route, girder rail bridges, warehouses, skyscrapers, factory pipes, tunnel segments, etc, etc. There may be a lot of spaces around your layout if you don't have the NEC installed, and I can't remember now if any ground textures may have been used.....

If not, I'd say it's hardly worth the extra expense just to go underground to Heathrow, there's not that much to see.
Chris.
P.S. I've stripped out my NEC route & assets and am running the route, ( again ) ( I was involved in testing this route, and I don't remember any problems elsewhere. )
Re: The Keith Ross appreciation society.....
Seems the missing assets are all in tiles around what I presume is Paddington, and what I presume is Heathrow; certainly aren't that scattered about. RWTools is reporting a few missing WCMLN assets though, I assume they're in the updated one.
Edit: Tiles 0-4 which I guess is Paddington outwards a bit, and 16-22 is probably Heathrow?

Re: The Keith Ross appreciation society.....
That's about right Kariban, the turn off for LHR is just beyond Hayes & Harlington station, so, between there and Paddington is where the items have been utilised, and I think there are some OLE, containers, etc, that's been specially created by Keith that you may be missing.

Are there platforms under the bridge like there ought to be?? :p hurrah!
As long as vast swathes of towns aren't missing I can live with the odd building not being there. I'd like to know what these are though:

Re: The Keith Ross appreciation society.....
The problem isn't that the platforms are too short in the default route; the bridge (in fact the whole station) is in the wrong place!

Re: The Keith Ross appreciation society.....
Actually there appears to be more buildings in the top one!
Foggy, let's not go there
I used to use Padd ( and the GWML ) every weekend, I've sort-of accepted what the area isn't by now. It would be nice to have the bridge over the platform ends when you're sitting in your cab waiting to leave though.

Re: The Keith Ross appreciation society.....
Well I've never been to Paddington so can't comment on its authenticity, nearest I ever got on the GWML was Reading, and even further away at Bath.
( but I was part of the fixtures and fittings at Kings X, L. Street & Waterloo in the sixties & seventies.
)

Re: The Keith Ross appreciation society.....
GWML is a reasonably good rendition for what it is, a port over from Railsimulator which perhaps may have benefited from a little more time spent on it. For example the video 125 issue 'HST West' which was filmed in the early 90s, clearly shows Reading has a very distinct curve in it, something that it had in GWR days and goes some way to explain the 50mph speed limit. Didcot which is straight has HSTs pass through it at well over 100mph, probably 125mph. Reading in the sim is very nearly straight, or at least that the impression you get, far more so than in film.

Maybe they straightened it out at some point, though if they did im not sure why the line speed wasnt upped.
As for Keiths modification of it, if its anything like WCLM doubtless it will be superb.
