Definitely not a stuck key on my keyboard - I checked with the Control Panel Keyboard test when I was adjusting the Repeat Delay and Repeat Rate: D and A show no differences.alexnick wrote:I've noticed this problem too, and had assumed it was a stuck key on my keyboard. If I hold D down I can move the lever to Hold and then to Off. This is making it impossible to drive, as I can't go down through the taps without moving the tap changer to off and hitting the brakes.
I have changed my Keyboard Repeat Delay to Long and Repeat Rate to slow.

Sounds very odd, almost like the sim is reading 'D' as 'A' when it goes to maximum. I take maximum to be the position at the opposite end of the range from off? I've not experienced it myself but there's a couple of reports in another thread, this one (http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 1#p1336391) and one a couple below it.

Re: Driving the Class 86/4 on the WCML
Andy,
Thanks for that. I've given it a go and to no avail - the tap changer was all the way to the left. The fault light is extinguished as well, so I presume it's some other state I've gotten myself into.
Nothing in this world is random, there is a reason for everything. I'm sure it'll easy when I know how... I could start again, but I'm keen to recover from this state rather than just restart the run from scratch, as I don't like not knowing things like this.

Not at the moment - the run down position is missing, best to tap down instead. Hopefully it will be corrected.alexnick wrote: Also: can I use the run down control? I can't get the tap changer to do this - it just goes straight to off.
When the main controller is in the off position and the tap changer has run back to zero the rheostatic (dynamic) brakes will operate automatically when the train brakes are applied beyond the initial application position. They cut out when the speed drops below about 10mph.Finally, I see that the loco has dynamic brakes. Can I use these, and if so, how? I've noticed the ammeter jumping into the negative (on the F5 display) once or twice whilst braking, and assumed the dynamics were coming on automatically. There's nothing on the use of brakes in the manual.

I've also had the tap changer go to 'run up' when trying to tap down by tapping 'D', so I think it must be a general problem.alexnick wrote:I've noticed this problem too, and had assumed it was a stuck key on my keyboard. This sounds like what I experienced when I started this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 4&t=109534. Never been able to repeat it since though.Optrex wrote:Andy,

I've gone to the lengths of verifying my cache in Steam, and I'm still getting this problem - time for an email to support, I think.AndyUK wrote:Alan, alanch wrote:Has anyone else seen a problem where the tap changer lever is on Hold, tapping the D key once takes the tap changer down one level, but tapping D again moves the tap changer lever to Maximum? Re: Driving the Class 86/4 on the WCML
I knew it was something daft I was doing...
For some unknown reason, I was returning the reverser to neutral before resetting. I put the reverser in forward, then reset and off I went. Weee! Resetting in neutral just doesn't work. I thought I had read the instructions, but obviously I hadn't.
Easy when you know how!

Re: Driving the Class 86/4 on the WCML
@alanch - you don't happen to have the freeware Class 86 installed by any chance? If you do, try going into C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorCore\InputMappers\ and renaming cl86_mapper.bin to something like backup_cl86_mapper.bin or deleting it. It has been suggested (though it's working for me) that having the old freeware Class 86 conflicts with the new WCML-N pack's Class 86 control mapping.

Re: Driving the Class 86/4 on the WCML
This problem always affected my freeware class 86, so it's probably down to something in my original script, rather than an rs.com creation. I never did work out what was causing it, just learnt to live with it. I doubt it's due to control mappers conflict.alanch wrote:I've gone to the lengths of verifying my cache in Steam, and I'm still getting this problem - time for an email to support, I think.AndyUK wrote:Alan, alanch wrote:Has anyone else seen a problem where the tap changer lever is on Hold, tapping the D key once takes the tap changer down one level, but tapping D again moves the tap changer lever to Maximum? However, now this is part of a payware product, perhaps Railsimulator.com should get to the bottom of it.

@ Davveb - that was why I redid your mapper for me with std settings for the base stuff & put the vigilance on numpad enter - no problems running them at all

Re: Driving the Class 86/4 on the WCML
Returning to my OP and the problem of driving the Class 86/4 supplied with WCML North, I have solved the non-driveability as per the supplied documentation, by resetting my keyboard Repeat delay: to Long and Repeat rate: to Slow. The keys A and D now behave as described in the documentation.
Thank you to the person who mentioned resetting the keyboard in another thread. Now to get to grips with the unwanted, by me, Career mode.

davveb wrote:This problem always affected my freeware class 86, so it's probably down to something in my original script, rather than an rs.com creation. I never did work out what was causing it, just learnt to live with it. I doubt it's due to control mappers conflict.alanch wrote:I've gone to the lengths of verifying my cache in Steam, and I'm still getting this problem - time for an email to support, I think.alanch wrote:Has anyone else seen a problem where the tap changer lever is on Hold, tapping the D key once takes the tap changer down one level, but tapping D again moves the tap changer lever to Maximum? If I hold D down I can move the lever to Hold and then to Off. This is making it impossible to drive, as I can't go down through the taps without moving the tap changer to off and hitting the brakes.
I have changed my Keyboard Repeat Delay to Long and Repeat Rate to slow.
EDIT
Email sent - I await a response.
I have now exchanged several emails with Railsimulator support describing this error, including some screenshots of it happening, but they can't reproduce it. Unfortunately, as they have told me more than once, no-one else has reported this error to RS, so at the moment as far as they are concerned it is an isolated problem.
If anyone else is seeing this, could you please email support@railsimulator.com so that I'm not on my own.
