Had a tweak to try and make that clearer. This is the same as the bunker on the picture in my book but shows it better.


You can clearly see the lamp holders and hig level brake pipe in this shot. How weird that there were so few taken from the back, especially as tanks often worked these kind of duties and often ran bunker first!

BTW the other thing I was going to mention is that the cab roof seems very curved compared to most cab roofs. Can you tweak that a bit?

I seem to remember that Matt was having a go at one of these years ago?

Hi Mick,
I am pleased that helped. I can not take the credit. I just Googled Images 'BR J50'. I think it was the 'BR' bit that made the difference.

Hi Doug,

I googled every j50 running in my 1959 abc and did not come up with that one.

I had a couple of different results when I entered LNER J50 as well.

Hi There,

I have been able to spend a few more hours on the model. I now have made a first export to the sim. I need to look at cab fittings, the whistle and the steps that are mounted on the very front of the footplate. Some coal would be useful as well.

Please point out anything else you can think of.

I am right in thinking this would be a right hand drive loco?.

Hi there,

Well, I think we are well and truly out of the workshop now, Rick Gibb has prepared a good engfile for the model and I have 3 finished models.

Please forgive some some artisitic license with the cab interior. I have made it RH drive with a wind up reverser which I think is correct.

The first two are on their way to Glasgow Eastfields 65A to work the Cadder Yard and probably any othe odd shunting jobs around there. These are 68952 and 68956. Both J50/3's. the differences I can visibly see are the front frame extensions with lifting lugs, the tank appears to be inset at the front and the coal bunker has a sheet steel liner inside the coal rails.








The third model was the work in progress model for this project which I will upload once I have done the write ups for it.

J50/1 No 68897 which was allocated to Wakefield in 1960.




I do not know what MSTS route this will be used on, but it would please like a home. :cry:

Hi Mick

Thank you for the Ardsley Tank, an excellent model with a superb backhead and controls.
I will have many hours of pleasure driving it, thanks for all your time and effort in creating it.
