Taking the plunge

Post by charles9malcolm »

Hi all,

I have deicided to take the plunge and make a first attempt at building my own loco. I'd like to try building a MR Johnson 3F, but I have no idea where to find drawings. Can anyone suggest where I might find some?

Hi There

This is the hard part. The research.

Try Midland Railway locomotive profiles from Wild Swan Publications

Hi Charles,

I've scanned a drawing for you of the loco but I don't have one of the tender.

Apparently there was an awful lot of variations within the class, even the driving wheels had different diameters and the tenders varied as well. :o

My son bought David Jenkinson and Bob Essery's series on the Midland locomotives so I can at least try to help. :)

PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you the drawing.

Best wishes.

John.
