Arriva Trains Wales

In 2008 Arriva Trains Wales began operation of a daily express service between Cardiff and Holyhead utilising the company's stored Mark 2 rolling stock. To provide the motive power for this train ATW obtained the use of three of Virgin's Class 57/3 locomotives to operate in "top and tail" mode. 57314 and 57315 were painted in the Arriva Blue Livery, while 57316 was painted a neutral blue. 57313 is currently at Pullman Rail, Cardiff Canton, being repainted into the same "Neutral Blue" livery as 57316.

Sounds great and nice to see the added functionality of the train length feature,I am sure the community will put out quite a few reskins likes the other diesel locos so maybe Oovee doesn't have to do every varient . My bank account is really gonna be complaining nextweek with this and possibly IHHs Western being available to

A clever little feature that train length button. No more having to switch to the '3' view to check if the rear of the train has passed the speed limit start or junction etc. The cab looks very detailed and the sounds are good too. Roll on Friday!

A 57/0 canot tow a Pendolino without a coupling adapter.

You are thinking of a 57/3 with the Delner (spelling?) coupling.

Looks and sounds like a very nice model regardless

Seems like I need to do a bit of research into what these locos do, and the variations there are (I'm a bit out of touch with "modern railways" ), but I'm sure I'll be able to find a use for it!

The liveries in the main package are by David Hossack, I wouldn't put it passed him that some free extra ones will also be available from here.

Probably more like weathering variations really eventually...

So no chance of replacement liveries with proper Freightliner/DRS logos?

There is also conventional drawgear on a 57/3


For me this is very important. I try to get the right loco with the right livery as much as possible.

I also hear Oovee may be implementing a no (or limited) repaint policy on this loco but I am sure there may be some interesting and pleasant surprises in the future…

The 57/6,s in service with FGW would have made a great addition to RW also,the GWR 175 livery carried by 57604 would have been very smart,its a shame that the variant being modelled is probably the most limited as far as liveries are concerned,but i am sure the Oovee 57 will be superb.

Hi David, if there is a no (or limited) repaint policy, is there to be a DRS liveried version either with, or following release? If not, and if nobody is allowed to reskin it, I am not buying it. Makes a change for me to take this stance, I am not normally one to miss out on what looks to be such a cracking loco but this no reskin policy is starting to get to me a bit.

Oovee Entertainment We cannot attain licenses from DRS at the moment I'm afraid - it will come in a free patch though as per the norm.

That was my worry, however as with the NSE pack, it seemed to go down well and the additions made it worthwhile. But thanks Dean for the heads up, I really should check these things.

Saying that, I wouldn't have seen it as I detest Facebook! Listen to me, is this what happens when you turn 30?
