Fire on Mid Hants!

I said this on another forum but....

The sad irony is the LSWR coach had been largely forgotten about at Alresford until its chance finally came for restoration, then this happens. There was also a MK1 coach alongside it aswell as a diesel shunter for repaint.

It's probably safe to say the coaches are well and truely gutted and the wiring on the shunter most likely ruined. Two shots have been posted on Tony Wood's site (the person who used to maintain the MHR website):

Part of the U class tender:

Outside of the sheds, at least the S15 tender was standing outside rather than inside:

I do hope not all of the items of rolling stock have been reduced to scrap.

Next door in the boiler shop are the boilers from S15 No. 506 & Standard 4 No. 76017, however these should be fine.

That is gutting, i feel sorry for the guys at the MHR who have suffered through this after it being open for only a few months. Its also a great shame about the class 11 being in there also, as unlike the 08s, they arent a dime a dozen. Hopefully they can try and salvage something from it

It went to scrap last year... HNRC sold an air braked only 11 number 12082 to the MHR to replace 12049 and it has been there for quite a while now, in full BR green with the number 12049....
