Getting onto Asset Editor

Post by Kiwisteam »

Does anyone know how to get onto the Railworks asset editor? It doesn't show up on the launcher page and when I click on it on My computer it says to login to Steam.

On the launcher page, click on Tools & Docs and the Asset Editor is listed.

Agreed - but when I click on the 'Asset Editor' box it launches RW2 then the BluePrint editor appears which displays two folder boxes; Installed Routes & Source Files both of which will highlight in blue but do nothing else?
I am trying to sort out RouteMarkers btw for a route which does appear in the Package Manager as installed and I have a RouteMarkers folder set up (using RW_Tools) in the appropriate developer folder.
Any help appreciated please

Hi

The Asset & Blueprint editors only show your own folders in the Source folder. You cannot edit anything else this way normally, although I think RW Tools will give you access to these editors.

You need to understand how the source folders work first. I explain briefly the system in my Route Template tutorial -

and there is more here in the Official WIKI -

Some assistance on route preparation can be found in this -

This for South West Wales Trav?--if so see if https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=7220e63b ... 76D2%21241 is of any use to you. It's a bit rough and ready but it works for me, can use the compass in editor mode happily.

Sorry about that, Live was all I had available at the time due to physically moving machines about, but it's now living at the much friendlier looking ftp://gptech.serveftp.net/SWW :)

It should be fairly self explanatory what it is and what it does, if you don't have (or want) the suggested folder structure it should work OK wherever you place it as long as you edit the .bin to point to the right location.
