Hi,
does anyone know what diesels are likely to be used on steam specials that can't be steam hauled due to fire risk conditions? I was just curious as to what class of diesels would stand in.

One last week had a 37 tucked in behind the steam engine. Think it was a WCRC one.

Re: Diesels used to cover specials due to fire risk
I saw it happen last week with 30777, the 37 was doing all the work with 30777 making little noise.NiallGray wrote:One last week had a 37 tucked in behind the steam engine. Think it was a WCRC one.

With regards to what diesels cover, it depends on what is available really. Some touring companies such as WCRC provide their own diesel if they know it will be needed

the plan is for a vose or a wcrc tour to be covered by a diesel due to fire risk on either the LSC,DC or even the ece route.
