Porting from Trainz to RW

Post by Kiwisteam »

I wonder if it's possible to port over engines from Trainz into Railworks as they seem that much more detailed and could fit well in the game

You would need the original source files.

More detailed in what way... Personally I think the Locomotives in RW are Pretty detailed as it is?

Not just the source files but I assume things like attachments, hierarchy and animations (plus shading etc) need to be done in a different way.

You can just about do it with buildings, where I've found the original TSM models I made for MSTS, imported to 3DC, fiddled with the textures and exported into RW.

This question was asked the other day and the only outfit I know of currently converting their locomotives and rolling stock are BritKits who produced for MSTS.

And the whole question of copyright arises - if it was possible - imagine the furore if third parties started converting payware or Trainz built in items to RW.

The stuff I would like to see converted and I would actually buy for RW, is the UK locomotives and rolling stock created for TC3 and later S&C2009, however AFAIK Mike and the gang have not shown any interest and, while such a pack would sell like a hot cake, might be seen as undercutting their own product/platform.

hi, ...

Are built for Railworks must be more detailed than for Trainz and MSTS.
There you can tricky fake with textures, in Railworks not.
As will be designed more polygonal in RW.
