Re: cant build a route
I do not know why this happens but I suggest you select the scenario you are using and then delete it by pressing the delete key on the keyboard. It is possibly the only scenario you have available but that is OK. Then run the route by clicking on the Free Roam option and RailWorks will build a new free roam scenario for you.
Be Warned that any work you have already done in the faulty scenario will be lost but at the moment I have no other suggestion to get you running again.
If you are having trouble with a scenario that came with RailWorks then your best best would be to verify the games cache first. Log into Steam online, find your games page, right click in main window, choose properties and then in the third tab along (I forget the name) choose verify games cache and let Steam repair any faulty files. This could take some time but the indicator will tell you what progress is being made.
If you have any further problems then get back here.

Re: cant build a route
I got exactly the same error after laying track and tried to save the scenario.
I now get it when I try to load the route. :bad-words:

Hi Alex
This looks like a 0 byte file problem. Use RW Tools to check for this type of file and delete them and I bet that you get the program working again straight away. (Don't ask me why this happens

Re: cant build a route
Hi
Choose 'Edit Assets' from the top menu, select the RailWorks folder in the navigation window that appears, click on the 'Find Zero Length Files' button, wait until RW Tools builds up a list of 0byte files, select all so they turn blue, click on the 'Delete Selected' button, exit RW Tools and try starting up RailWorks again.
I hope this works. Note that there are some 0 byte files that naturally occur in RailWorks which do not cause any problems, but they will rebuild themselves if they have been deleted.

Re: cant build a route
I fixed the problem with info from another post.
Here http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... e#p1299844
Deleted the initialsave.bin or something like that in the Content>route folder.
Everything is honky dory now.
The thing is, what causes the problem in the first place.
It certainly wasn't something I did.

Re: cant build a route
It is just a corruption between saves, not your fault and happens from time to time. Deleting the initialsave.bin is the correct way to fix it.
