There's been quite a bit of that about recently. I've seen in other people's photographs 4 or more 66s travelling to various destination.

Probable locos from a weekend engineers job trapped by a line closure.
Quite a common thing on a monday.

Why strange? It saves 3 drivers, 3 paths and possibly 3 sets of track access charges.bharrison wrote:strange that they were copuled together....

Quite right, usually to feed the various services in a specific area. I know on a monday GBRF usually have four locos in multiple headed down to Ipswich to feed the three Intermodel and one Carless train and I believe they also have a bank of locos headed north to feed the northern intermodel trains and various coal workings.
Even though they are booked workings they are still quite a sight to see.

It must have been the Doncaster - Tees via Darlington service.

Eiether that or returning home after weekend possesions. This one's quite regular which suggests that. It normally runs an hour or two later though.
