Re: Game Engine
No, sorry that's not the name - it means 'written specifically for the purpose' & 'written in-house'.
I don't think they used anyone elses 'Game Engine' but instead have written one specifically for this game.

Re: Game Engine
Given that it is still running on the Kuju Rail Simulator core, I would suspect it was derived from their in house graphics engine which itself evolved from games like Team Apache, MSTS and whatever else they did in the meantime.

Re: Game Engine
Given that MSTS and RS were both written by kuju, and given that nobody likes to reinvent the wheel, I strongly suspect you're quite right.
When RS.com got the code, looked under the hood and saw the mess, they quicly sealed it, put some wrappers around it and worked very hard on assets to get RW out.
I apologize in advance but I conldn't resist to this easy sarcasm ...

Re: Game Engine
My abiding memory of Kuju coding is in Team Apache, when you tried to auto hover the helicopter the rotors stood still and the body rotated around the axis...
A bit of a digression but shows the more things change, the more they stay the same!

Come, take a big sip of "PC 2010, special selection, double malt" and then another one and then, you will say: "Looking back, they really learnt their job. Not a single engine rotates around any of its wheels."

Maybe they use contra-rotating wheels on the same axle to keep the body from spinning?
Look at a loco heading right to left across your screen, the wheels rotate counter-clockwise. Now in view 2 move to the other side and they rotate clockwise.

Re: Game Engine
You mean the Andi vibrations have reached the southern hemisphere?
God blessed the queen because it is none of her concerns anymore.
Anyway, good to see that thorough logical analysis brings the really important insights to the light on both sides of the globe; summer or winter; spirit prevails over matter, even virtual matter.

The name of the 'engine' is called 'Heracles'
This is Kuju's own developed 3D renderer.

Could explain the wheelslip when stationary and regulator closed though.Maybe they use contra-rotating wheels on the same axle to keep the body from spinning?

When will the Kuju divorce? I think many people would be happy if this happens.RSderek wrote:The name of the 'engine' is called 'Heracles'
