Class 390 - any scenarios?

Post by BadWhippet »

I've for some time looked at the Class 390 on Steam and I still haven't bought it because there is no mention of any scenarios - not even a 'free roam'. Can anyone confirm whether there are any scenarios with this model?

If not, how easy is it for a complete numptie to use one of the downloadable scenarios here? I have the Newcastle - York Modern route installed and I see there's a scenario for that, but I also have a chequered history of failing to get free content working properly. Is it better for beginners just to wait for JT's tilting Voyager because JT always packs in scenarios? I'm a bit limited on cash and so don't want to throw away money on something I won't be able to play.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello

There are no scenarios included - but I can recommend a couple that I know for a fact work straight out of the box:

Really, what was it? I don't recall seeing one when I got it. Oh well, I tend to make my own anyway.

Don't recall the exact title, it was something with 'Slalom' - it is for the Hagen - Siegen route

Yes, I found that afterwards. It's not mentioned as part of the 390 purchase (it seems to have been added belatedly in an update). It's a simple test-run type of scenario, but is great fun just to get the feel for the 390 tilt.

I've just tried the Class 57 scenario but I can't get it to work. My usual curse with custom content I'm afraid.

I followed the instructions of every readme in each of the three files I downloaded (I already have the Virgin reskin installed). Each readme told me to copy the Class390 addon's Couplings folder contents to the RailSimulator version of the same folder, even though two of the three files don't seem to be anything to do with couplings (I think), as follows..

1. unzip the Content and Assets to your railworks directory
2. copy the content of :\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\railworks\Assets\S9BL\Class390Addon\RailVehicles\Couplings to :\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\railworks\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Couplings

I did that three times, for each required file. I could not find any blueprint cache file to delete though.

Can anyone advise please?

If in doubt about deleting blueprints, use the Clear Cache button on the Tools & Docs tab of the Railworks launcher (note that this is only usable before starting Railworks proper)

I have managed to test the top speed of the train in the TestTrack route, managed 155mph over the 125mph limit, handle the curve surprisingly well despite looking very sketchy.
