Freeware appreciation thread!

As an avid user rather than creator ( being of a certain age where beta blockers figure greater than alpha channels ) I am in awe and respect for all those who give of their time and considerable expertise to create such marvellous modelling and to those who put them to use in routes and scenarios . We all follow through the forums the trials and tribulations of creating the perfect model or route and so can be in no doubt of the time and effort required. I would certainly like to put on record my thanks for all the railworks creators from the uk,ireland,usa,germany,italy,france, spain,denmark,netherlands,sweden,switzerland, eastern europe and china for it is becoming truly global . Long may their creative juices flow.

Just like to add my thanks for all the talented freeware producers on here and beyond. Without these fantastic add-ons Railworks would not be half as good, as it is with them. Really much appreaciated guys When I think of the things I use most in Railworks I would probably say freeware is 50% of what I use most even though I'm lucky enough to have purchased nearly all payware add-ons currently available. The amount of time, Hard work & attention to detail on these freeware products is amazing what a great community we have lets never take it for granted as its so easy to do.

I second all the above.. without them I think my route and any other for that matter would look very dull. The amount of work gone on to create these wonderful assets makes me feel proud of being part of something that will be enjoyed for years to come. I can not thank everyone enough.. well done

I'm also going to add my thanks here to all the freeware makers. Railworks would just be a payware game if it wasn't for freeware.

Rolling stock...I recently downloaded many of ferrisybuga's default wagon repaints and along with Sly's Mk1 repaints they really add much needed variety, but for new freeware models (already mentioned by Danny) it's got to be these.

Pete Gillam's characteristic GWR wagon sets, I have all of them, most of which are seen on the SVR and GWR, together with Pete's super-duper Prairie cab, essential for use with any similar locomotives as IMO the default ones do not cut it at all in comparison. The first shot also shows ferrisybuga's nicely reskinned PO wagons as Highley's own coal wagons (outside the driver window), well done Chris. He's also done the Iron Minks in the various guises including a Gunpowder Van, and I do believe he provided us with the very first GWR item in RS, the 20T Toad? Finishes the job nicely. Once GWR was for some reason ignored, now we're rolling in it.

I tried using all my LMS locos at Spa Valley. Of course my game crashed when I tried to move one. All freeware and great models

The Spa Valley Railway is one of my favourites too

I had not tried to fill the yard too much before but I got this far and managed to pick a loco and drive it away without any crashes. Great fun

Wow,congratulations getting all that lot to work at Spa Valley.Mine worked eventually when I turned down the graphics. I also like the more modern W&B route although not all the assets are freeware.I think Carbonia is all freeware , a nightmare finding all the assets but worth the effort
