I now have a side elevation of a PQR carriage. An end elevation will shortly be arriving here. If you want, I will email you them. Details of what the carriages later became are as follows (from the VCT carrige register)

Carriage "H" ex PQR. Regauged to 2'3" on arrival at TR in 1952/3, operational 1955-61. Rebodied in 1962/3 as Abergynolwyn tea van. Now TR No. 7.

Carriage "P" ex PQR. Regauged to 2'3" on arrival at TR in 1952/3, operational to 1964. Broken up due to poor condition 1965 and running gear used to build new coach 1966 - still in service as TR No.8

Carriges "C"&"D" ex PQR. Bodies used on new bogie underframe 1954 - rebodied 1955. Now TR No. 9

Carriages "E"&"G" ex PQR. Seats etc used on new bogie underframe with new body 1953 - 1965, when it was extensiely rebuilt. Now TR No. 10

Carriage "D" ex PQR. From TR No. 9, carr. "D" was put onto a new 4w vehicle underframe similar to TR No. 7 and 8 but using running gear from a Ffestiniog quarryman's coach. Rebodied 1959. Now TR No. 11

Carriage "C" ex PQR. From TR No. 9, carr. "C" was put onto a new 4w vehicle underframe similar to TR No. 7 and 8 but using running gear from a Ffestiniog quarryman's coach. Rebodied 1958. Now TR No. 12

As regards looks the 4 wheel versions looked almost identical to how they were on the PQR, but with full TR buffing gear and without the handbrake. As would be expected TR No. 9 looked very much like two PQR bodies hashed onto a new bogie underframe for the short duration it was in service.

I would imagine that the Skarloey Railway versions of these coaches (Ada, Jane and Mabel) would be based upon the TR coaches No 7, 8, 11 and 12 as described above.

Hope this helps a bit.

Wow........I never knew that they changed THAT much... :(

Are you sure you can't find any pics of them before they were changed??

I'd need pics of them as open coaches...not bogies or rebodies...

Photos are a bit of problem. As I said I can provide drawings of them as built. There wasn't that much of a change between then and initial Talyllyn service. The guy who is sending me the drawings did hint that there may be photos soon, but I guess that they are photos of them as 2' gauge coaches.

Do you want the drawings?

All this talk of TR opens has reminded me that I started one for inclusion with Steve Pontin's Talyllyn Railway CD but never got it finished in time.

I'll have to see about finishing it off (Tr no 8 if I remember correctlly)

Cheers
