I've had problems with sounds cutting out, or going very quiet on this loco.
Also, on the shift+2 head out view, I seem to have a transparent window plane going down the centre of the screen.
What really impressed me with this loco though is the effects of wheel slip. Absolutely outstanding, and I hope some of the other steam loco's I have yet to try have similar effects.
The value of your investments may go up as well as down.

The reason that is there in the Shift-2 view is that the spot you stick your head out is actually behind said small windshield. Use the external constrained (2) or free (8) views to get up close looking from the outside to see what I mean.

I've only seen the wheel slip effect a couple of times due to my driving style. I do think (admittedly without first hand experience but having seen Tornado do it on the Top Gear special) it kind of captures the atmosphere of what is going on reasonably well. For me, whether it is a perfectly accurate simulation or not is of lesser importance than if it conveys an atmosphere well.

That transparent window pane is an actual head-out windscreen. Random googling got me

One wonders why they took 100+ years to invent that :p

One thing that struck me about the 9F cab is how roomy, enclosed and relatively comfortable it looks.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

No, the problem is not drivers/hardware related.
I have two different PC's working with different OS (win 7 64 bit and win XP) and soundcards, the chuff sounds issue is evident in both cases... :(

The Class 50s had them too, before the locos were refurbished...

I bought these locomotive because it's one of the most beautiful steam locomotives for me. The model is very high quality but the stencil shadow is made very badly. It is not the same level of quality as the model. I'm sorry you did not invest more effort to create shadows. My rating 9/10 as a result of badly stencil shadows.
