A modeling program that can export into .igs and .ia formats (example: 3DCanvas, Blender, 3DsMax,

A painting program (gimp, photoshop, etc).

A knowledge of how to put your stock into RailWorks.

best instruction i can give is start small, build a few houses then start with more complicated stuff
