WHR

Post by Nvincer »

Hello guys,

This may be a very silly question to ask but here we go anyway.

Does anyone from the original team or does anyone else still have a copy of the vapourware Welsh Highland Railway route? And if they do, could I ask for a personal copy?

From a developers point of view, it would be an interesting route to have the chance to have a look at (regardless of its bugs).

Grateful for any feedback,

Cheers,

Ben

Problem was I know it was very buggy, that's why it has never been made fully available for anyone to download...

From what I was lead to understand, the route was never in a complete or stable enough version to distribute.

I've never seen it either.

Both WHR and the Ffestiniog route ought to have a potential market making them worthwhile. I lnow that Ffestiniog is available, but it has never been properly scenically completed over the whole route in the detail that the Porthadog end has been done.
Whilst neither route involves complex track work the scenery makes them attractive.

From what I remember the only bit of the route that was never finished off completely was around the Penryhn village area. All the rest was completed, as these great pictures from Dave, show:-

You need to contact either pitleyfalley or BruceB, but i think the route has so many problems the only option was to start again. I only have the stock CD i'm afraid.

Why not do it yourself? Reskinning is far easier than building a new model from scratch, there's even a very helpful tutorial on this site (and others availible elsewhere): http://www.uktrainsim.com/index2.php?fo ... texturing1

dont think ive personally got a copy of the route knocking around anymore, will have to have a search through all the MSTS cd's and there may be one floating around. The route wasnt scenified much beyond ryd ddu heading south and porthmadog was done (in part) from an a copy of the Ffestiniog, the idea being that they had matching porthamdog's and one route could 'run' into the other as it were.

The real issues were around plas nant, where MSTS couldnt copy with some of the tile boundaries and caused high spikes in the terrain, it was in part due to the way we had created the terrain to begin with if im honest I think and it was something we never managed to resolve. Best person to PM or email is Bruce who may well have a copy of the route kicking about still and may also release some of the stock, worth asking him I suppose!
