Platform Mirrors

Post by gavo01 »

http://www.abandonedstations.org.uk/Cro ... ine_2.html Sixth picture down

Having dabbled a little in Blender recently I was hoping to find somemore pictures of these platform mirrors that were dotted about the country in the nineties but I have only located this one.

Does anyone know of any others I may be able to get hold of?

Cheers for those Flickr photos, they will help a great deal, although I now require pictures showing the rear of the mirror but I suppose I could use my imagination there. :D

you could make your own textures, the mirror would be a very difficult texture to create but the rest would be easy enough

You're right there Gav, getting the mirror texture right will be a nightmare but I was actually referring to the rear of the mirror body.

Its not a very clear picture so I think I may have to be a bit creative with this part of the model. :)

Hiya

Try playing with the values in TrainGlass.fx shader... it has reflections

See Dereks art of railworks Blog.. suggest you play around with 2nd and 3rd arguments as well as specular level

Intresting comment :)

What i like about the new things comming out is that thay come out on freewere and not paywere.

As we have the new 2 tone horn by ash burgess with the b and space bar.
Now we could be getting reflections in a mirror :)

Cheers for this bit of info Sly, will have to check out this blog. Maybe back at sometime for more help regarding the mirror texture. I'm a big believer in if its gonna be done, its got to be done properly.

It helps if the 3D program used is free too, but until Henning releases his beta plug in for Blender 2.49 then all of my projects, see here http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 2&t=104499 ,will have to sit and wait patiently.

Have had a little time today for this one and have managed to come up with this so far. Don't want to cram too much detail into it as it is only a scenery object, having said that I am quite pleased with the result.

Once again usual mesh tweaks and texturing are the next things on the list as is getting to grips with the Glass Shaders so I can try and create a mirror effect.

Mirror Rear. Have used this picture to try to recreate this side. http://static.panoramio.com/photos/orig ... 604483.jpg

Have had a bit of time to finish this model off but have yet to sort out the reflection mirror effect. Have come across this texture for the mirror and whilst its not correct I can't see any other way to replicate a mirror.

Zoom in for bigger picture

TrainGlass.fx only gives you a glass window effect which is not really what I was after, so I may stick with the above texture version for its initial release. If anyone is willing to have a go at the reflection mirror effect then PM me and I'll happily give you the .blend file.

Hi

How is the reflection created in the water decals. Perhaps there is a solution there.
