The names match up: Ie:
No.1 Skarloey = No.1 Talyllyn
No.2 Rheneas = No.2 Dolgoch
No.3 Sir Handel = No.3 Sir Haydn
No.4 Peter Sam = No.4 Edward Thomas
No.5 Rusty = No.5 Midlander
No.6 Duncan = No.6 Douglas
No.7 Ivo Hugh = No.7 Tom Rolt
The Thomas engines all had generic names 1 and 2 are meant to sound Welsh but dont mean anything. (Talyllyn is the parish the railway ends in, and Dolgoch was the only intermediate station when the line opened) No.3 and 4 just sound similar. No.5 is a play on the fact that diesel 5 is . and doesnt work very well. No.6 Duncan parodies No.6 douglas who was donted by Mr Douglas Abelson... a contractor. And No.7 is named after Tom Rolt, other names being considered were: Cader Idris, Bryneglewys (thankfull not named that (imagine the amount of time to polish the nameplates!) and Tom Rolt.

Yah they should change 'Midlander' to 'Rusty' for good
I saw on the Talyllyn website that it just had it's whole engine revamped...
...the thing should be Rusty on Thomas Days too.
(or is it Duncan Days?)
Oh well same thing
But you still didn't tell us how/why Edward Thomas got the Giesl Ejector?
And two more things...
Did the Talyllyn Rly really get coaches like Ada, Jane, and Mabel?
Did one of your engines REALLY get hit by a steam roller?!?!

I know for a fact that all the coaches on the SR are based on real coaches that are ore once were on the TR. The open coaches (I forget which ones they were without the books for reference) are based on the ex-Penrhyn Quarry coaches, suitably regauged and (IIRC) doubled up on bogie underframes which (again IIRC) are still in service underneath newer bodies.sillyevan27 wrote:And two more things...

One other point, not to be snidey intentionally or anything, but if you have to post in multicolour, could you please do it in ones you can see (i.e. not yellow) or ones that don't give you a headache looking at them. Sorry

See Mike. That's going to be Corris #4, then Edward Thomas, then Stuart, and finally Peter Sam!
See if that helps you any
BTW...Kevin. Those pistons look awfully small to be used on an engine!
Does ET really have pistons THAT small?

(scale wise...) It doesn't look like those little things could rotate the wheels

Looks odd doesn't it. However, if you take a look at
http://www.corris.co.uk/images/tattoo%2 ... image5.jpg
you will see that the pistons really *are* that small.
btw, this photo is of the new Corris' new Tattoo class locomotive - its not ET.

Actually Corris No. 5 is a diesel called something like "Alf Marsden" (not sure OTOH) and No. 6 is a diesel as well. The new Tattoo will be CR No. 7. As stated CR No.s 3 and 4 both still exist, 1 and 2 were of the same design as 3 (leaving gaps for replicas of the unrebuilt and rebuilt versions I would guess) so 7 is the logical next progression.

So when do you think Corris #7 will be done? (not MSTS)

No idea. I think the aim is something like 2004.
To reduce and summarise my last post with lass big words:
CR #1: Scrapped - possible replica of unrebuilt Falcon type engine
#2: Scrapped - possible replica of rebuilt Falcon type engine
#3: Still extant on Talyllyn Railway (rebuilt Falcon type engine)
#4: Still extant on Talyllyn Railway (Kerr Stuart "Tattoo" class)
#5: Diesel on preserved Corris Railway
#6: Diesel on preserved Corris Railway
#7: Replica of #4.

John (also note where the names of #3 and #4 on Duke's railway came from)
