Unless you read the UKTrainsim home page, you may not have seen the sad news of the passing away of LAD491 kaurie Dickerson. For more information look at the Site Adminstration forum

As I missed the boat with the main thread, and this seems to have been the other one that appeared, I just wanted to chuck something on the forum very briefly as a definite retiree as it were.

I don't really use this place anymore having not been bitten by any of the 'new' sims, (I think this is my first log on for about 7 months) and having fallen into the world of work (and the rest of my spare time volunteering it feels like) but I still drop by the main page every few months and I was extremely sad indeed to read of Laurie's passing (I don't mind admitting it caught me so unawares that I dropped a tear or two).

In the 8 years or so since I joined the forum as not quite a teenager, Laurie is one of the names that sticks in my head as someone who I really appreciated reading about, not just playing his MSTS activities, but also the notes and anecdotes about his life to date, and what he was up to, with some well considered and useful opinions on the world as it is and indeed was.

I never had the pleasure of meeting him but he always gave the impression of being a top bloke and I've stuck a few quid in the fund linked to by Jon Bilton in another thread.

At least part of the reason I moved on was a lot of the old friends (and indeed the odd adversary) I knew over the years seem to have moved or passed on and it seems whenever I look back I've missed more for a chance to say goodbye :(

Who knows when I'll drop in again, the odds are I probably will do at some point in the future, but I wish much love and happiness to all of you and your families, because I'm once again kicking myself for missing another chance :(
