SCREENSHOT SLIDE SHOW DISPLAY

Post by rufuskins »

I am considering putting together a slide show of various MSTS screenshots from this part of the UKTS site. I am then looking to display this when I visit Keighley MRC as part of the DIY team. This would where possible cover all items of stock.

As a common courtesy - and to ensure copyright compliance - can anyone who objects to me including their screenshots please advise either on this forum or as a PM to myself.

As an alternative can uploaders please give their permission for the use of their screenshots in the prosed slide show either within this forum or as a PM to myself.

Ideally this would be displayed on a projector screen, but I shall have to make do with my 15.4" laptop. I shall be using the bigger screen laptop for train simulation.

Ruf

PS It will make a change from the recent spate of repainting for Class 101, 102 and 111.

For what it's worth, that request, should be other way round, ie people give you permission to use their pics, then you won't have someone come up to you later on and complain you used their pics elsewhere without permission.

And for what it's worth, I have no problem you using shots from my Glas-Car work, just choose nice pics where work is complete!

I have noted the comments and amended the original post to suit.

Obviously with the Keighley show due towards the end of March there is not a great deal of time to set it up, and hence I was looking to obtain any necessary permissions through the forums, and objections through the PM system.

I had assumed that in displaying these screen shots on the forums people were keen for others - albeit simmers - to see what can be achieved.

I believe that if we make these available for viewing by the public, so that they can see what can be achieved in the world of train simulation, we can continue to promote, stimulate and extend the life of MSTS.

However I do not intend to PM every individual with a request to use their screenshot. If there is a poor response I shall keep the screenshot slide show for my own personal use.

I have just toppled off my soap box, and therefore will head to the coffee machine for a further injection of caffeine!

Hello again Ruf
You are quite correct about the reason we post screenshots
I enjoy sharing them it's the nearest I can get to having fellow simmers enjoying whatever route I'm running
I've said it before and I'll say it again I'd love to have all the members of UKTS around in my flat
I don't think my neighbours would like it though especially having to knock through the walls to make my humble abode bigger
Screenshots are a way of showing our thanks to the authors of whatever route and rolling stock we are using etc
Kind regards Stephen

True, Stephen, and they're also an excellent way of promoting new routes and models, and publicising the latest advances, not just with MSTS but with any sim. I still remember the day I first signed up here, when, somewhat bored with the look of the default routes, I became aware of exactly how good MSTS could look when I saw a series of screenies from Chris Iveson - they impressed me so much that I almost immediately ordered a lot of add-on routes and went on a download frenzy. :)

Just curious Ruf, are you just going to show random screensheets from those you get or are you going to do something like a powerpoint presentation and put them into some sort of order?

By that I mean you could split the pics into themes; ie new routes in 2010, recently released routes, new stock etc etc. Obviously with likes of powerpoint you can add info to the pics. If that's the way you intend to go, I'd be happy to cherry pick a few pics for you to use if you don't mind publicising the route*!

(*Including pics not shown on here yet!)
