I had a bit of trouble when I added a few bits, footplate valences, ejector pipe and reversing lever. It was accepted into the sim okay but kept on crashing when I tried the forward view.

I finally found it was the non planer polygon problem with the chimney,dome and safety valve casing that was causing all the trouble. I've replaced the bits with new ones and all seems well

I've still to add bits and I'm worried how things might turn out. I don't know a thing about Polymaster so any help in that department would be appreciated.

I know that Darwin was having a go at making a Caley cab interior, but he hasn't mentioned it lately and he has had some problems with his computer, so maybe he'll be in touch.

I think I got this from a German Tutorial.

In TSM create an extra part with one polygon with an alpha material type and main as its parent. You then reference all the alpha parts to this new polygon. Then use PolyMaster - uncompress the s file (use the Compress/Decompress button or alternatively shape file manager/ route riter) - load the uncompressed file (button 'Offnen') - In the large window on the left, scroll down and identify any parts with Alf and/or Trans in the properties that you want to apply the fix to. - In column 'L1' change the '1' after these parts into a '2' - They will now show up as a second set of objects in the little window in the top right ('Subobjekte') - put a 'x' in the 'L1' box behind the set name. This will tell the SW to sort this subset - Hit button 'LOD's/Subobjekte erzeugen' - Done. Save by hitting box 'Speichern' - Compress the new .s file, either here by hitting the Compress/Decompress button again.

From memory I dont think the TSM part is necessary. Hope this helps

Can anyone point me in the right direction for the correct number and crest sizes? I know that St Rollox tended to go it's own way as far as applying the correct ones.

A useful tool to keep in the wings if MSTS crashes out when rendering any model is Decapod's Shape Fixer.

Shape Fixer 1.0a [55083 bytes] - Shape Fix.zip File ID: 17056 Date: 23 Jul 2010 - 2617 Downloads

Simply run the shape file through Shape Fixer and it identifies various inefficiencies and correct them....and it can get extremely high poly count models to work effortlessly!!

That's an interesting wee fact Ian, thanks for sharing it with us.

I think the lined black livery suited a lot of the locos, it was better than just plain black.
