Today (07/02/10), I've initiated an archive series on my fotopic site (David Hennessey's Train World). This occasional series will consist of collections of photos taken between 2003 and 2005 (just before my present fotopic site was created in December of the latter year).
Please note, that these pictures were taken in my early days of photography, and may not necessarily be up to my current standards. Nevertheless, I hope you will enjoy my insight in the early years of the 21st Century.
I've started this series with The Great Gathering, held at Crewe Works on the weekend of Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September 2005. Also included, are numberous Virgin 57's on Pendolino Drags (taking place at weekends at the time, when the Runcorn route was shut for engineering and Liverpool bound Pendolinos had to be diverted via Earlestown), and 37425 on an ATW charter from Cardiff to Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llandudno.
The collection can be found here: http://www.davidhennesseystrainworld.fo ... 12449.html
This thread will be updated occasionally, as and when the series continues. For now, hope you enjoy it. Comments welcomed as always.

Some nice phots there! It brings back a few memories. I'm glad I managed to go to a Crewe Open Day before the main site closed. There is a small part of it still open however for bombardier to do work on the wheel sets.

UPDATE (14/02/2010): Collection two added.
THE TWO ROSES - Saturday 17th September 2005
As the old saying goes... Two's company, three's a crowd. This was certainly the case with Pathfinder Tour's Two Roses tour on Saturday 17th September 2005.
The tour, being run as part of the Liverpool & Manchester Railway 175th Anniversary Celebrations, was supposed to feature throughout, BR 8P 4-6-2 number 71000 Duke of Gloucester between Liverpool Lime Street and York via Manchester, Huddersfield and Wakefield.
Unfortunately, the loco had a problem when one of the injectors stuck, causing excessive water consumption. At Stalybridge, she was declared a failure, and taken off. EWS 66081 was summoned to take the tour onwards to York.
However, a surprise was in store later that day. The East Lancashire Railway despatched the Class 40 Preservation Society's 40145 to work the return run to Liverpool (taking a slight diversion via Leeds).
The shots in the link below, include this tour and other surprises along the way and at York.

Enjoy!
