Hi guys i was wondering if anyone could recomend me the best programmes to use for making a model 159 for use in the simulator as i would like to have a go at correcting some of the known problems with it. any help would be much appreciated

With all due respect guys you need the information you are after has been asked a thousand times. Just above this thread there is one named "A brief guide to 3D Modelling in MSTS". To me that suffice as a starting point if you are planning a 3D Model.
I will warn you now, its not as easy task, it takes time, patience and A LOT of reading. Take the time to try out tutorials first. Don't start by just jumping in a building a train, its not going to work. Try a simple square building and see if you create it, texture it and export it correctly. If you can do that, then you're off to a good start. If you can't then I wouldn't bother trying to create a train.
