Railworks keyboard sensitivity

Post by GuyGibson »

Hello,

I posted the question below on the Beginners forum, with no sucess: Can anyone here help?

"Does anyone know how to make the locomotive controls in this sim less sensitive?

I touch the keys and before I release, the control has gone to nearly 100%"

Thanks

The control sensitivities are set in the appropriate xxxEngine.bin file. For example those for the Black 5 are in 'Black5 Engine.bin'. Before you do anything I suggest you make a backup of any files you want to edit. Open the file with serz.exe, found in the 'railworks' folder, and this will create an .xml file, in this case 'Black5 Engine.xml', which can then be edited using a text editor capable of dealing with .xml files without losing the formatting - I use Notepad++. Having adjusted the sensitivity you then use serz.exe to convert the edited .xml file back into a .bin file keeping the original name.

Thanks for the replies.

I was hoping for a fix that would apply to all engines equally but if I have to edit each engine separately, so be it.

Once again, thanks for your help.
