The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Someone was going to do the route but I haven't heard since.

Why don't you have a go at doing the route?

Yes, the Route Editor is pretty daunting at first, but with the available tutorials and guides, and a bit of practice, it soon starts making sense. Some of the more experienced route builders have even admitted to enjoying using it 8)

Go for it. It isn't quite rocket science, almost, but not quite!

Apart from some . track geometry it is easy enough (well I find, so far......................)

I'm trying to collect all the info needed to have a go at Nottingham Victoria towards Annesley and beyond but domestic and work distractions are getting in the way!
Absolutely no idea of timescale, years probably. Labour of love though since I grew up at the bottom of Bagthorpe Junction.

A year on and I enjoy using the Route Editor :snipersmile: , The only time I didn't like it was when I was still learning the Basic's, first 2-3 month's.

What I did was look around for everything about the Track sections and what the filenames meant.

For Example a breakdown of the name's. :-

a1t2000r5drndtun.s

A/D = Reference to type of track eg A = normal and D = Dynamic
1t = no. of track's on section.
2000r = Radius of a circle
5d = no. of degree's around the dia. of a circle.
RndTUN = Round Tunnel, there are two type's, round and standard.

a2t100mstrttun.s

A2t = 2 Track's
100M = 100 Meters long
strt = Streight
tun = tunnel

Hope this help's you start with Track Laying.

The Abacus Step-by-Step Guide to Building Routes by Michael Vone is worth its weight in Gold to get you started. Once you've tried his tutorial route, you'll be away.

Look at the Route Building Guide at site http://trainsimulatorworld.com/ for more info.

I could get nowhere with route building until I'd read it. Unfortunately it costs, it has to be downloaded, and is a fair size download.
