Snow texture for Xtracks Roundhouse

Post by JohnKendrick »

I've been trying some routes which use the Xtracks Roundhouse, and these appear to be missing the Snow Texture file "Roundhouse.ace", thus snowy, Northern routes will not load properly when set up for winter conditions!

Does this file exist as I couldn't find it in the Xtracks 3.3 download?

I have just looked, I don't have a snow Texture either.

I don't know if the Author (can never remember how to spell your name), Included a snow texture.

If not and we can get his permission and the origional model, I'm sure we could do a re-skin for a snow Texture, i've been Experimenting in Adobe Photoshop 6.0 with this, for ground texture's.

All you have to do is a deep white for the roof and mild lightening of the side's to give a snowy texture, then add snow around the bottom of the building. Voila done. (Sound's Easy)

You make it sound very easy. One day I'll get the hang of the alpha channels.

I guess it must be an omission, as the turntable has a snow texture.

The roundhouse doesn't seem to get a mention in the Xtrack's documents cedits, so I guess it must be by the author of Xtracks.

Unless you intend to release the new textures for general distribution, there is no need to ask the author's permission. If they are only for use at home on your own machine, you can do what you like with them.

With regard to the roundhouse .ace file, it is a bit tricky to change to snow
texture. If you view roundhouse.ace in TGATools, you will notice a row of 8 square boxes about quarter way down the texture. Boxes 4,5,7 and 8 are the roof textures and the ones you will need to paint white for a snow effect. You might also want to add a bit of white to the window sills and around the base of the building.

No roundhouse snow texture was included with XTracks.
You may re-texture the roundhouse all you like and release routes with the repainted textures. Only condition is you do not charge for the use of XTracks. Commercial routes should contact me first and we'll see if we can reach an agreement.

Okrasa,

Thanks for the info.

I see that you have now included the texture in the new 3.4 upload. Installed and no missing texture request now. Thanks.
