I'd like to say thank you to the creators of the whole bunch of beautiful steamers we've been given during the last weeks and months. I don't want to mention any special author or engine. I've downloaded all the locos and I'm having big fun with them. So thanks to you all for your great work and for sharing it. It keeps good old MSTS alive.

It's with thanks to all the modelers both steam and diesel that keeps msts as my only railway simulator.

I'm slowley changing my older loco's with the new ones if a suitable replacement can be found.And at longlast the end of the dreadful Scotsman cab.

The only new loco I would now like to see would be some Rebuilt Patriots as we have Scots and Jubilees,and or these a new Clan,Stanier 2-6-0 Mogul.

Thank you all for the effort you have put into these models and bringing them to us lesser mortals.

I would like to add a quick thank you to the route builders for the supurb routes to run these loco's on.

You all know my feelings about these excellent locos from Danny & Mick and I also thank them both for their splendid efforts in producing quite a few first's for MSTS. A nice group of Southern locos including Merchant Navies from Danny, sort of started the ball rolling. Mick did us some beautiful Princess Royal's, not seen before on MSTS (names that is) and then Danny followed up with some very nice Scot's, both early models and later models of this class. Both Danny & Mick are keeping steam alive on this eight year old sim, which I still think is as good, if not better than RS/RW. there is certainly a huge collection of Routes and stock for it and more routes to come. What more surprises can we expect from this modelling duo?
Keep up the good work, all you creators, whether it be Routes, Steam, Diesel or (can I say it), the newer Electric Locos which are not really my cup of tea, but none the less are all welcome by the younger genaration and are providing MSTS with such a vast collection of models, old and new.

Regarding the future of MSTS, I was over on one of the American Forums last night ( Elvas Tower) and it seems that there is still a huge following for MSTS, more so than RS/RW. MSTS has a huge following in the US, more than us here in the UK. It seems that they were all waiting for Microsoft to finish the new TS2, but have stuck with MSTS since the plug was pulled by MS, rather than take up RS. There are many over the pond who have had a dable with RS, but much prefer the handling of MSTS. It seems that the new method of creating scenarios (activities) and the concensus is that MSTS performs much better, especially since the bin patch came out, which got rid of the big white void, common on a lot of American Routes.

Sorry for rambling on, but MSTS is still alive and is not dead yet by a long way. Keep the routes & stock coming, there are still plenty of steam loco's that havent appeared yet for this sim.

I have to agree to with everyone, Mick and Danny have been brilliant. I'm also looking forward to the (hopefully) many versions of Dave's new A4 and also Richard's 'Lord Nelson' when it is released.

While I am sadly not an MSTS-er at the moment, I still look at the libary often to see how the hobby is progressing. As said, the models latley are superb works, and a real testament to MSTS, however old it might appear to be. Sometimes good things come with age.

Also Desiro, MSTS might become much better now that Open Rails has come on the scene. It's early days yet, but this might be the breakthrough that will extend the life of everything that has been done for MSTS. The most important thing though, is that without people like Danny, Mick & Dave, still producing some excellent steam locos; those who are working on more modern stock and People such as Niall Gray, Terry Cunnicliff, Doc Martin, Dikidee, Don Hinton, to name just a few, who are still producing routes for MSTS, then it would certainly start to fade into the background. Even I have something simmering in the background that I am not going to mention just yet, but I think many of you will welcome this when I finally announce it.

This may be an old simulator, but it is one that we have come to love (sometimes hate) over the past eight years, despite its niggles and uncertanties. Bin breathed some fresh air into the lungs of MSTS and now just at the point where it was starting to get short of breath again, Open Rails promises to again, breath some more new life into MSTS. The old b_gg_r (MSTS) won't give up just yet, it maybe reaching pensionable age, but this tough old simulator will keep going as long as people still keep adding to it, with improved models and routes that get better and better.

Compared to RS/RW it might not be in the same generation, but it's a tough old bird which still gives hours of enjoyment to lot's of people World wide. Long may it continue to give lots more pleasure in the future, until it can't cope with the very latest technology and will have to finally bow out gracefully in the end.
That will be a very sad day for MSTS.
