East Mids Trains, HST Collision 17 Nov (Aftermath) Video

Post by ArrivaTrains »

This morning, 2 EMT HST sets collided with each other in the vicinity of Neville Hill Depot, Leeds.

The resulting chaos was:

2x Derailed & Damaged HSTs - EMT

Plus the following stranded units on the Depot (what I could see when passing at 7am)

EMT:
1x HST set

East Coast:
2x HST sets
3x MK4 sets

Northern:

2 x Class 333
3x Class 158
2x class 153
1x class 155
3x class 142
2x class 144
3x class 153

On the way home I filmed what still remained of the 2 trains, waiting to be removed.

Constructive comments welcome..... :)

I'd be very interested to hear the cause of the accident. Seems like quite a lot of damage as well, lucky that the MK3 on its side didn't fall the other way (not that it could have of course).

The lines will be closed tonight from 2200hrs, for 24hr (no passing trains) for recovery.

Special TPE timetable tomorrow. No "Northern" trains Leeds - York / Selby however. (Only TPE - diverted).

Well in due course the RAIB will publish it's findings. Can take a while to fully investigate and not miss any evidence.

I hadn't heard about this !

But then, as no 85 year old lady broke a finger nail, the media can't be that interested.

It looks like an operational issue with 2 empty trains. Google for RAIB and then look at their final reports. Makes very interesting reading but be aware that reading 60 - 180 pages of PDF file will occupy an evening. Same for the AAIB (aircraft incidents).
Kindest regards
